East Stand or South Stand Expansion

No more than 61,500 and probably a tad fewer due to more corporate stuff! They dropped 2000 seats from the original south stand plans so my estimate would be 60,000 and change. What a magnificent sight a completed bowl would be but im still not convinced kld will spend that coin anytime soon unless (like a house extension) it will increase the value of the sol above the cost of the build expense.
tbf a 60k seat stadium costs upwards of £500m+ band new.

On last years prices probably ..the longer they delay the more the price goes up!The dick hill stadium price was probably agreed 3-4 years ago (non gov contracts usually have price caps attached to control costs ,the company with the best guarantees usually gets the tender)and wasnt it 600 million or so?

I don’t want an expansion yet. We’ve seen that in the Championship we’ll only get around 38-43k, and we could very easily find ourselves back there before any expansion work is completed - even if we started today.

I’d rather the club get settled in the PL first, maybe even qualify for Europe again, consistently sell out, before we expand.

We could fill that expansion but we could also be left with 20,000 empty seats every week.
You can run the risk of being relegated anytime. We could wait 10 years with sellouts and decide it’s the right time, then bang relegation. Sit on our arses waiting for a perceived “right time” is total folly. Also every year the cost becomes larger and larger, and even if everything was put in motion ie plans, costing etc, it would be 2 years before commencement.

We should be extending the East Stand. More seats, and far greater hospitality potential. Plus it would allow loads more in for concerts potentially.

The downstairs should be built anyway with minimum disruption to fans, with the foundations in place for an upper tier.
100% this.

The increase in corporate seems a priority for those in charge to maximise match day revenue and probably to increase accessibility to sponsors and eventually any 'tourist' fans we begin to attract.

But they have to temper that with maintaining our league position, possibly having a cup run/win and also qualifying for Europe so it's not just a fluke.

We all know, and the owners must surely realise, that dropping out of the PL will see the fairweather fans stop coming again. So I can't see an extension happening until at least May 2028 at the very earliest.

I think,

NE corner + E stand = 7k
SE corner + S stand + SW corner = 8k

Or 15k overall, leading to 63k capacity
SE corner + S stand wouldn't be possible without E stand expansion.

Likewise you couldn't do E stand + SE corner without a S stand expansion.

SE corner would be the last part, otherwise seats there would have what could generously be described as a partial view of the pitch.

The sooner the better, use the PL momey to improve the club, the team will have natural highs and lows but we need to try and keep up with other clubs. We weren't selling out Roker Park when Bob Murray decided to build a stadium with twice the capacity and 3 times the potential capacity. Thank god it was him and not some on here on that particular job, otherwise we'd be a smaller club than we are.
