Durham's one day cup campaign

If we are playing player spotting, I often see Lees and Stokes in and around Hartlepool due to where they live. I actually bumped into Lees at a family fun day at Billingham Synthonia yesterday.

Back to the original topic though. I don’t necessarily mind some games being at South North, but I would like them to be moved about. As a Hartlepool lad, a game at a suitable NYSD ground would probably be nice for me. I actually quite like the suggestion of playing a game in Scotland, I’d be more inclined to go there than I would Gosforth.

In an ideal world both him and Potts would be rested, problem is we don't seem to have any fit seamers to replace them.
For the entire competition? Attitudes like this just back the ECB's view of this being a second rate competition.
Because it’s ’the members’ who were quoted as having been let down by playing at Gosforth.

Sorry if that’s not ok with you
It makes no sense and gives the impression you're sneering at them.

Nope. Just thinking that non members will also be equally inconvenienced (or maybe not) by playing at Gosforth.

Does there opinions not count as well ?

It's a funny one this Gosforth argument and for a long time I was very much against it but went one year and truth be told enjoyed it. Parking is an issue but fortunate a family member of my wife lives 10 mins walk from the ground so it's ideal for us and we get to have a family catch up, very much win win. Facilities are very typical out-ground, but access to the high street is a major plus in comparison to CLS.

Regarding playing within the traditional Durham boundary, totally agree and I'd like to see a game maybe at Darlington, however this Gosforth thing is all Marcus North given his previous roles at that club.

As for player spotting.... Ben Stokes regular spotted at Wheatley Hill petrol station given he only lives along the road. Have seen Alan Walker on his bike as he lives locally as well.

I’d push back on that slightly and suggest that given our insanely bad injury situation, it’s much more to do with prioritising a couple of key bowlers for our Championship relegation challenge than disrespecting the competition - because after all, as far as I’ve seen we’ve taken it far more seriously than the ECB have done since it’s creation.

Doubt you’ll see him there for a while mind. I neatly got caught short last week when I was passing and in need of fuel

Where in anything I posted did I indicate that non members opinions don't count?

I simply asked why you wrote the words the members inside speech marks as it was really weird.

You are indeed correct with your last point and I wasn't intending to suggest the club didn't take it seriously.

I have a pet hate of resting players in any sport as I'm very much of the opinion teams should be looking to win every game they play. Especially when that can lead to a trophy. I do get the point about players being fresh for the CC games but to rest Raine for the entire competition would be overkill and disappointing for me.

You and me probably agree on that point at large, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable of the club (given the financial impact) to prioritise one competition over another should they seek to do that.

You didn’t and I wasn’t replying to you (see post 14), so I find you get offended equally as weird.

It was post number 11 that said that playing at Gosforth wasn’t a thank you to the members. I just pointed out that Darlington/Stockton was in County Durham and yet further from The Riverside than Gosforth High Street.

The inclusions of an Archie/Two Henrys/and a Bertie suggest you are correct. Or they could be very, very old.
They finished bottom of their group last year with 1 win and 7 defeats, with a very similar squad of players.

If Durham don't win this we may as well forfeit the remaining 7

Frustrated no Bedders don't understand why he's not here like.

Where's De Leede as well. Hope he's not pick and choosing again and is just injured.
