Durham's one day cup campaign

Brand promotion and £££££

There’s been a game at Gosforth for several years now, and every year there is a debate of sorts on whether it should happen. I’m fairly relaxed about it. Durham need as much support (financial and otherwise) as they can get, and I’d be happy if they played in Cumbria and Scotland on occasions. I suspect I’m in the minority, mind
I'd be off in a thrice to a fixture in Sedburgh, glorious setting.

Was at Feethams last season for a Second XI game and love it there although it's changed a bit since it hosted first class games in the 90s. Don't know if they'd bother bringing in the temporary stands like they used to as it would be way too costly so imagine if would be a 'bring your own chair' arrangement as it is at Gosforth.

As much as I like Ropery Lane I think it would be a bit pointless having a game there when it's a 5 minute walk from the Riverside
I went this year for a second XI game. It always feels a little smaller than Gosforth but that may just my perception. Bring your own chair is fine with me, maybe not for others though.

I must admit I enjoy the day at Gosforth and it always feels like a day out. Better in my mind than another game at Riverside. I appreciate others may feel differently. Ideally I'd like it to be a weekend game as getting across the Tyne is a chore, particularly on a weekday morning. A bind driving back too. If this forecast bad weather passes through, I may give the official bus a go.

Last year Raine was rested for the who 50 over campaign, so it will be interesting to see if any senior player sits out this year. Out of the back-up bowlers I'm hoping we see more of Minto.
I think Raine will be rested or hope he is rested, we need him fit for the final run in, in the championship

I think it's fair for people to question why Durham are playing a home game in a different county. We all know the reasons but again it's not a huge thank you to the members asking them to travel away from County Durham to fulfil a home fixture.
There will surely be plenty of people / members living in Gosforth / North Tyneside / Northumberland who follow Durham though? .....

Edit: why do people think Bedders isn't available above on this thread? He just fucked off for an awards ceremony nee reason why he shouldn't be back, he's not in South Africa white ball plans.
I understand he needs a trip to Home Bargains to replenish his toiletries. He has been allowed the rest of the season off.

What is your opinion on this?
With losing Carse, Potts, Parkinson, Sowter, McKinney and Clark I still think our batting is quite strong but jeez our bowling looks very weak. We will miss the first home fixture but will attend the rest.
Which available players would you pick for this competition?
I too will be missing tomorrow’s game, not enamoured with playing at South North, terrible for parking, and I’m certainly not lugging my own seat/chair.

I’m so depressed about the four day stuff that I genuinely cannot get excited for this. If the ECB don’t care about 50 over cricket, why should I? 🤷‍♂️

I spotted him out in the wild 3 years ago I think . He was in Barker and Stonehouse with his lass.

Home Bargains might be beneath him, more my speed after seeing the prices in B&S
I saw Ben Stokes at the Arnison Centre years ago packing his Sainsburys shopping into the boot of a black people carrier thing, whilst trying to control a young child.

This has the makings of a thread.

I was like that for a few days last week after attending the Bostock Bullshit Briefing on Wednesday. Over it now. I've paid for my membership and am going to eke every last penny of value from it. Maybe the last membership I buy.

I've seen Stokes at Tesco CLS, also seen Clark and Keaton Jennings there. Bally used to be a regular but that's PF stuff.
