Durham's one day cup campaign

What is your opinion on this?
With losing Carse, Potts, Parkinson, Sowter, McKinney and Clark I still think our batting is quite strong but jeez our bowling looks very weak. We will miss the first home fixture but will attend the rest.
Which available players would you pick for this competition?

I assume we'll use Yusuf or Wagner; both if Bedders isn't available.Minto,Coggers, Drissell and Connors. I'd also include Badger, runs and wickets galore for Hartlepool.

I think it's a case of "if fit you bowl". I have absolutely no idea on the fitness of Hogg, Coughlin, Robinson and McAlindon. One assumes Killeen is fit as he was 12th man the other day so he'll be on contention. Is Wagner fit?. De Leede, Raine, Drissell, Killeen, Yusuf will be starters in my opinion based on the assumption they are fit and ready. Batting wise we need to see a big effort from Lees at the start he's critical to how well we do in this competition in my opinion. I would like to see Borthwick involved. If I'm picking my side for Tuesday... Lees, Gay, Borthwick, Ackermann, Robinson, De Leede, Raine, Drissell, Killeen, Yusuf, then the final spot as to whoever is fit as fast bowler. Connors/Mcalindon/Coughlin/Wagner/Robinson/Minto

Wagner was at day 1 of the Surrey game telling supporters that he was going home the next day due to injury. I think he said it was a shoulder injury that would keep him out for 8 weeks.

Wagner has gone home with an injured shoulder. Connors is injured, AGAIN. Hogg is also injured.

FFS you couldn't make it up.

It's fortunate we have a bit of a break for the one day cup so most of our front line bowlers would not play in this.

This competition will be Rhodes' chance to shine.:D:D

Apologies lads, I’m still quite new to this 😂

Quick Q…..

Why are we playing in Newcastle tomorrow? Me and my son were going to head across but we are just going to give it a miss now

Brand promotion and £££££

There’s been a game at Gosforth for several years now, and every year there is a debate of sorts on whether it should happen. I’m fairly relaxed about it. Durham need as much support (financial and otherwise) as they can get, and I’d be happy if they played in Cumbria and Scotland on occasions. I suspect I’m in the minority, mind

I think it's fair for people to question why Durham are playing a home game in a different county. We all know the reasons but again it's not a huge thank you to the members asking them to travel away from County Durham to fulfil a home fixture.

There should be 1 match a year played on an out ground, this is the perfect competition for it.

Is there currently an out ground within the county that could host this?

Not entirely sure but they did have a 50 over game scheduled for Feethams in 2020 or 21 but it didn't go ahead IIRC due to COVID. They play 2nd XI games at Ropery Lane, you'd think that either of those grounds are a similar standard to South North and could hold 1 game.

Darlington and Stockton used to be out grounds.

Both within the traditional boundaries of County Durham, yet both further away from The Riverside than Gosforth.

What do ‘the members’ make of that ?

Never been to Feethams but familiar with Ropery Lane. Ropery Lane would be a good shout.

Why have you put quote marks around the members?

I think the side we're left over is pretty good still, just unsure on who the 11th man would be.

Gay
Lees
Rhodes
Bedders
Ackers
Robinson
De Leede
Raine
Drissell
Yusuf
Whoever the fuck is fit

Edit: why do people think Bedders isn't available above on this thread? He just fucked off for an awards ceremony nee reason why he shouldn't be back, he's not in South Africa white ball plans.

Last year Raine was rested for the who 50 over campaign, so it will be interesting to see if any senior player sits out this year. Out of the back-up bowlers I'm hoping we see more of Minto.

Was at Feethams last season for a Second XI game and love it there although it's changed a bit since it hosted first class games in the 90s. Don't know if they'd bother bringing in the temporary stands like they used to as it would be way too costly so imagine if would be a 'bring your own chair' arrangement as it is at Gosforth.

As much as I like Ropery Lane I think it would be a bit pointless having a game there when it's a 5 minute walk from the Riverside
