Durham Women


I was there for the second half. I was critical of our fielding last year, which at times looked amateurish, but they've clearly been working hard on it. They fielded and caught pretty well today on the whole (once they got past the missed stumping in the first over and the dolly drop at square leg in the third)
I thought we bowled well. Johnson's 3 PP overs, in particular, were excellent. Her 0-16 set the tone for the Hants reply. They simply weren't allowed to get going, apart from a short flurry of boundaries when the game was already too far away from them

I was really impressed today. It felt like our fielding had turned a corner

That game today and the 50 over game against Somerset last Saturday has seen the batting, bowling and fielding improve hugely.

we lost 2 in 2 three times, but this is clearly a very tricky pitch, because they are 88-7. RM-G took 6-11, so it's her day and she's at the crease now, trying to finish it off and complete a massive one player show

I expected to get beaten tonight, but I imagine we gave Surrey a scare

Odd that we didn't bowl our 5th bowler until it was too late. Perhaps HA figured we were going to have to take 10 wickets in 16 overs and rather than risk introducing Villiers earlier, decided to go all in. Excellent figures from Trudy J.... again

Yes, a good win, considering that we didn't bat that well today and then gave away a load of wides when defending a modest total

A match winning performance from Bess Heath (it might even be the best I've seen from her) and the decision to take the gloves off her looks like it's paying off. I just wish she'd do less of the reverse stuff. She nailed a couple today, but missed a lot as well, eventually getting out to her last attempt. She gets out a lot to the reverse sweep

A great first two overs from Trudy J, but that 3rd was a shocker. She seemed to completely lose her line coming round the wicket to the left hander, with 3 consecutive leg side wides and then getting thumped for four when she came back over the wicket. At least she came back over the wicket. She was getting a load of swing in those first two excellent overs

Good work from Sophia Turner. Really good bowling that sucked the life out of the Warks run chase just as they were looking like kicking on

We've improved our weak fielding no end, perhaps it's time we worked on these wides. Without them we might have beaten Surrey the other night
