Durham Women

Good win today and an excellent innings from Wilson ably supported by Marlow then Armitage. I do however worry about our bowling too many wides once again along with some loose deliveries. I was also puzzled by some field placing at times which led to easy boundaries being scored.
Plus side was the umpires staying out there in the light rain and of course the win.

Well beaten yesterday. Good to see Filer with a 5 fer, so well done to her. Surrey seemed to be in a big hurry to knock the runs off, so that opened the door for her, I think. A century for Hollie A and a good stand with Mady Villiers. It wasn't a bad total, but our batting depth was exposed as we failed to truly capitalise on that stand. Says something about Surrey's depth that they were able to have DWH coming in at 6.

Are we batting Sophia Turner too low? She plundered 14 off that final over and I watched her thump Warks all over the place in the warm up match, but only because they let us bring Marlow back on for another go, otherwise we'd have been all out before she had her chance to shine

Wednesday 22nd May - Durham Women v Netherlands Women - t20 - 1pm start - Brandon CC.

A warm up for a tri-series in Edinburgh with Scotland and Bangladesh.

Intrigued to see how Blackwell does for Yorkshire over the season. Played against her a few times in Langbaurgh and NYSD. Still only 16 but definitely a talented cricketer.

I thought they were toast the way Yorks were going (one woman team?). Frankly I was amazed to find that the game had been tied with a run out on the final ball. Lots of run outs as it happens, which suggests to me that we held our nerve and they didn't. Although I expected that Yorks would be one of the teams that we could pick up wins against, I think we did pretty well to fight back over the last 10 overs, because Yorks were well on track to win and win well

Jonassen is proving to be a great signing for Yorks
