Durham vs Nottinghamshire - One Day Cup - 03/06/18

Difficult really to have sympathy for the club at the moment. An embarrassing One Day Cup campaign littered with embarrassing decisions all over the place. To play a loanee ahead of our contracted players is an insult to them. We'll be wondering why some players potentially move on in the winter. Absolutely pitiful. Piss off Lewis

Again, might have been a condition of his loan deal.

Makes it even more embarrassing

How do you work that one out? You do realise that's how those kind of things work? It's got to be beneficial for the parent club. It happens all the time in football, one condition is financial, but mainly it'll be a guarantee that 'x' will play a percentage of all games the club plays unless 'x' is injured.

Can you honestly say you didn't want us to loan a bowler when the decision to bring him in was made?

Bring in in fine, but not on those conditions (if true). Quite honestly it's embarrassing fielding a 2nd xi loanee in a dead rubber game ahead if your own players. Won't really blame certain players if they move on in the winter. McCarthy isn't the first player this season to have development hampered. Today was also a perfect opportunity to give Davies and Coughlin game time. Whole thing is just embarrassing and for Lewis to say he's been watching dixon for a while speaks volumes. Worst Durham one day bowling figures today. Hopefully the last we see of Dixon, absolutely rubbish

I can understand us getting a bowler on loan but I don't think there should be conditions on him playing every game. Leics got this Surrey bowler on loan last year (Pillans I think) and he didn't play every game during his loan. Durham shouldn't be getting themselves into a position where they have to pay someone regardless of how shite he is and I don't necessarily think those stipulations are par for the course. Dixon will have went to Durham to increase his chances of playing and Essex would have been happy enough to give him the opportunity IMO.

Could be a struggle here with 6 wickets now down, Smith out and required rate nearly 9 per over

Dixon’s last over looking more and more costly
And he put Mullaney down ( when he was in the 70's) which could have been a match changing catch, that said our batting was pretty insipid.

I've no idea, we may never find out what the conditions are. However it does happen, with regularity in football where loans are much more prevalent.

To be honest I'm just playing Devils advocate, but with how bad the current financial plight is, for a dead rubber, it might save the club money by not having to pay match fees out to contracted players.

I think it's safe to say Dixon has been a bad move, but at the time, bringing someone in on loan was absolutely the right thing to do. It may be that he was the only option we could get - the conditions of the loan might have been unfavourable, but we were dersperate weren't we......

It was a gutless performance even after accepting the fact that our death bowling in the last three overs was very poor with loanee Dixon taking the honours of the worlds worst bowler award of the day with those please hit me hard deliveries to Mullaney in the last over
We still got ourselves in a position to win with Richardson and Smith but they decelerated while going well and couldn’t pick up the pace after becoming a bit moribund
After Richardson went the run rate accelerated but there was no meaningful paced batting left( Poynter and Pringle are atrocious) and the game was well gone
It has been a truly awful one day campaign and with things as they stand currently the upcoming summer 20/20 campaign will be equally be as disastrous
When is Weighill fit to return his batting and bowling efforts are sorely missed
I am very disappointed because this summer sports campaign is looking to be as frustrating and successful as the winters football was

Lewis put Steele back in the team like he wanted that went well
Just took you off block as I've been alerted to this silly comment. We've won 2 games in this competition, both with Steel and Clark opening, hence why I wanted Steel to open and I hope he does again next game. He got injured during the game (you would have noticed if you attended) and had to go off the field to receive treatment. Didnt look comfortable at all but I'll settle for 2 wins from 3 with him opening.

Colly opening was beyond stupid
