Durham v Yorkshire (h) Bob Willis Trophy

Our batting line up still lacking imo. Needed the SA fella to be here. Anyone know if he’s still coming over?

One young local lad in the side isn’t great (I know Carse is borderline on both). Hopefully more can get their chance before the end of the season.

That’s a pretty desperate reach.

Even if that turned out to be the team, we can still make a realistic claim to 6 of those being products of our own academy.

Not bad that, over half the team being homegrown ;)
What counts as local? I understand that Salisbury’s grandparents were both born and bred Sunderland. Several cousins still live nearby.

Different things in different peoples eyes, but to me, if they’ve spent time in our academy system, we can claim them as homegrown.

Stokes and Carse being prime examples. Granted, neither were born in the North East, but they’re both products of our academy and both have represented an England side. Nobody can question that Stokes is the player he is today in part thanks to the help and opportunities given to him with us.

Yeah I agree but most of that is a legacy of chances that were given 5-10 years ago. Durham should have more than one young local lad in the current team in my opinion, I’d prefer that to a load of Saffas. But I know others would just prefer a strong side and that’s fair enough.

Again, it depends what you define as ‘young’.

Is there really any point fuming over a blokes prediction though? Once the team is named I suppose we can make judgements on how local or young or homegrown the team is......

Past caring about this "local lads" stuff now. Durham used to have a proud tradition about that then got shit on from a great height for what many would perceive as trying to do things the "right and traditional way" with player development. Don't blame the club now for slightly (it's nothing more than that at present), moving away from that model. Durham need to think of Durham as nobody else has/will.

Hardly fuming just predicting team selection which is what this thread is about.Behardien isn't available so I'd go
Lees
Scott C
Dickson
Bellingham
Burnham
Trevaskis
Eckersley
Coughlin
Raine
Carse
Rusworth.
Good balance of youth and experience.
I would be very happy with that line up with Burnham and Trevaskis. My prediction came from the fact neither had any opportunities in the friendly and Harte got a bat and bowl. If Trevaskis did not play as he appears the only slow bowler available then his stock at Durham will haven fallen dramatically from last season.

I didn't read anything into Trevaskis not playing in the friendly just assumed it was because it was a one innings match and all the seamers required match practise. Be surprised if Trevaskis isn't in the 4 day game especially with a heatwave forecast.

Well he hasn't got much competition if they do require a slow bowler. To be honest I don't even know exactly what type of cricketer Berhadian is.
Yorkshire named a 13 man squa
Patterson
Brook
coad
Fisher
Fraine
K.Cadmore
Lyth
Malan
Olivier
Shutt
Tattersall
Thompson
Waite.
Batting looks stronger than bowling.

Squad for tomorrow:
Alex Lees, Sean Dickson, Cameron Steel, David Bedingham, Gareth Harte, Stuart Poynter, Jack Burnham, Ned Eckersley (c,wk), Paul Coughlin, Ben Raine, Matthew Potts, Matthew Salisbury, Chris Rushworth
Just don't get this obsession with Poytner.

Poynter and Potts to miss out?

Is there anything stopping anyone from either, going into bannatynes and watching?

or

putting ladders up to the wall and looking over?
