Durham v Worcestershire : CC September 15

Worcestershire might be looking at next season and thinking who is the bigger threat to them in a possible promotion push. They are definitely a county who are fairly comfortable going up and down on a regular basis.

Got to assume Hampshire will lose. That would put Hampshire 8 points ahead of Durham. IF Durham draw that puts Durham level then whatever bonus points we get currently 1 which would put us on 9 points then assuming we get 250+ we will jump ahead of Hampshire further
I’m pleased they are
Taking 6 wickets against team as poor as them in this amount of overs is a disgrace
Don’t deserve to stop up
Will serve us right
Normally I would disagree as teams would have something to play for, however Worcestershire are now relegated so they're just doing as they please which is completely fair enough

I mean, it is cricket and it’s a popular format that many, irrespective of their dislike for it, still attend. It generates revenue and footfall for the club so it’s unwise to dismiss it
My point is about the different playing conditions permissible in the respective formats. A three hour bash is completely different from a four day game and the rules differ accordingly and rightly so. This is first class cricket and deserves the respect that the label expects.

They weren’t relegated at the start of the day though, they could’ve gone berserk for batting points and attempted to force a result. This is just barmy. The fact Hampshire are in such a bad way makes their decision even sillier in my view.

Hampshire are following on and Somerset have opened with spin at both ends . 37 overs tonight and 96 tomorrow weather permitting. A draw for us takes us out the relegation zone.

I’m hoping the pitch is as flat as a witches you know what and the batsmen turn up tomorrow. Has to be the incentive, to go big and move 6 points ahead of Hampshire. Sussex may also beat Yorkshire so it would be good if we could leapfrog both and go into next week fully in control of our own destiny.

Yeah that's my hope now I've given up on Durham this game truth be told. Hampshire play Surrey next week. I do agree about Worcestershire up until bonus points ended, it was a strange approach however now they won't be arsed either way. It's up to Durham now to bowl them out which clearly we are struggling. We are desperately relying on Somerset. I'm at a loss as to why we decided to bowl first though

Weather forecast is good for tomorrow so there should be no excuses for the batsmen ( presuming Worcester gives us the opportunity to bat )
