Durham v Worcestershire : CC September 15

Also explains why both teams don't appear to be showing much urgency in this game. Bostock is on the PGC committee to whom votes will be sent so he will be the 1st to know the outcome.I agree-he probably knew the outcome before votes were even cast.

He may get a shock, the clubs who are owned by members and who’s CEO’s and Chair’s have a backbone are continuing to tell the ECB to get knotted.

It’s mad how when they didn’t get the answer they wanted, they are still trying to force it through with an unnecessary second vote.
Its a very fine drizzle in CLS - the sort of which they would play in if they were on the field but not if they aren't. Forecast looks better from 11.30am onwards.*

* Mind you I said there would be no play before lunch yesterday morning.

Forecast I saw last night said no rain for the rest of the game after 09:00 today. What do they know 🤷‍♂️

0% chance of a win now, pray for better weather and sideways turn and erratic bounce at Taunton for the next two days.

What rounded my day off perfectly was the reaction of the crowd after another shit display. Clapping like seals who had just watched their team win The Ashes. Literally happy clappers. It’s about time they got some abuse when leaving the field. It would be such a culture shock and may, although I doubt it, make some realise how much their lack of effort is being received.
What crowd ? ....it looked on the stream that there was no-one there at stumps.
Perhaps those who were clapping were acknowledging Rodericks innings ?

The decision not to bat first was strange, as most on here have said, but we didn’t get to see the pitch close up, so it’s understandable why that decision was made.

However, to be in a position where we have a player with minimal red ball experience who has just been signed from club cricket bowling nearly 25% of the overs in the day is just crazy. He didn’t look like taking a wicket and bowled a 4 ball in most of his overs. Ridiculous in a must win game.

My thought is that the powers that be have already established that we can’t be relegated. The 18 clubs had to submit their votes on CC reorganisation on 15th September. We know Durham will support this. My guess is that Bostock will have canvassed the other 17 and established that there are now 11 others who will do likewise, so this is now going to happen, the result being that Durham end up in one of the 2 upper conferences.

It’s a bit like Bob Murray knowing we didn’t need to beat Swindon in 1990 as he was aware of what was coming 😁
Interesting post....totally agree re our spinner mind. Should never have been picked let alone bowl tge number of overs he did
I was still there 😉
were you happy clapping though ?

No I wasn’t , although it was a miserable day for us on the field, I had a canny day of cricket watching yesterday, I don’t get caught up in all of these arguments regarding who should be playing etc. I go down for a day out to watch cricket, some days we’re on top ( not many recently) and others things don’t go our way, I still had a pleasant day with the company I keep at the cricket.
Keep your chins up boys and girls, life’s too short to bitch all day everyday, this isn’t aimed at you by the way @bedlington mackem

Glad you had a great day ( i turned out to be a great day weather-wise ) tbf yours is a great attitude to have...being so invested in the team you support ( in any sport really ) often spoils ones view of the "entertainment" sport is able to provide. I wish I could be a bit more neutral concerning sport and spent a large chunk of yesterday watching both the cricket and the Athletics WC only to end up feeling miserable by GBs inability to qualify for the mens 400m final and Durhams inability to build on the initiative of a great bowling start

It was the usual suspects in the members seats and environs. At first there was an element of appreciation for Roderick then it just continued.
Feels a bit optimistic. Also strange when you consider how totally disinterested the umpires were to get play on day one.
They'll get on, Potts will bowl a bouncer then they'll go off for bad light. Mustn't forget provision for lunch. Those players need a break from sitting round.

According to the stream next inspection at 12:30 with lunch at 12:40. Thought they would take lunch earlier than that so this doesn't make any sense to me. There again with rain delays very little does.
