Durham v Worcestershire [a] C.C. 8/5/26

NVplay thankfully has the wicket

Great minds marra.

Swing for Robinson too with this old ball, so definitely something to watch when we come to bat. The pitch seems fairly sedate this morning though, so perhaps it’s a new ball thing.

I know its a long season with the coach travel but Potts is so fit and he thrives on bowling.

He has been back to his skillfull best Aldridge looks fine as 4/5th seamer done well with the bat but i cant see his bowling winning us a game.

Aldridge is very much like a younger version of Carse and why we've signed him.

Said this at the back of last season and that he's a 4th/5th seamer to bungle the odd wicket when flat and offer a long batting lineup.

On his day like Carse was for us capable of a flurry of wickets. But won't be effective on plenty of occasions and look at Brydon now for England.

But he's got plenty of time to improve his bowling and why I thought it was a good signing. A talented player we can improve.

I think Aldridge is a better bowler than folk are giving him credit for. I’m more than comfortable with him being in that fourth seamer slot, apart from this game he’s bowled with nice control and I genuinely believe he has the skillset to turn into the sort of wicket taking/partnership breaking threat that Stokes has proven to be.

Very very poor from Luke Robinson this morning however, new ball due now, which is just aswell.

Raine gets Taylor lbw with the second ball with the new nut. According to the commentator Taylor was ‘non-plussed’ but it appeared to me that it had a chance of hitting all three.

Also to note, this has been a very poor first hour from Durham in my view. No real impetus or obvious plan, seemingly just waiting for something to happen as opposed to forcing the issue. With a bit of intent and determination we could’ve been batting by now.

I think Campbell realising that Potts and Raine are going to have a large workload decided to take advantage of Stokes' return to rest Potts. Which may mean Raine gets rested next match..

As it happens I'm not sure either Potts or Stokes are at their best, yet.
