Durham v Warwickshire (a) T20

Great to get back to winning ways. Thought we were about 40 runs short given that short boundary. However it was mentioned that they’ve had a lot of rain down there lately so maybe the wicket was a bit slower than anticipated.

That stream was something else. Wickets going down and the camera is focusing on the dugout, stats were piss poor and the commentator had Warwickshire as favourites despite the fact the run rate had gone up to over 11 an over.

This Stokes bloke looks to have improved a bit on his last couple of performances. Maybe keep him in the team for the next game and see how he goes.

AHH so when he plays well great if not it's because he's returning from injury so basically never gets criticism

Your argument makes no sense, you’re putting words in someone’s mouth. Gordon never said that at all, but sometimes there are legitimate mitigating factors to a player not playing to their optimum level of capability.

He will get criticism when I feel it's warranted. The criticism some on here hurled his way was quite frankly utterly embarrassing. He's returning from injury (broken finger) and has had some good spells and some bad spells since returning. I'm far happier seeing Ben Stokes playing for Durham. The way some have gone on in the last 48 hours I stand by saying was utterly embarrassing. Glad to see him do the business today. I would never expect any player to be 100% having not played for a while having suffered a broken finger, especially cricket.

I'm happy as well I don't think people questioning him for England in this format is bad really

Him returning from injury people were just making excuses nevermind let's hope he does well in every game

He broke his finger & hasn't played for a few months. Would you expect footballers to be 100% straight away having suffered a broken foot for example?

Absolutely is. One or two people simply pointed out Stokes had a couple of poor games, only for this childish prate looking for aggro

Yes, I was one of them, my comments are there for all to see and I stand by them. What the lad was clearly referring to wasn’t the constructive, critical observations, it was the ridiculous and unwanted barracking. There’s a difference. Hence why I didn’t get offended by what he said, because I know my points were all fair.

Regarding aggro, I’ll be honest, I might’ve missed it, but you were the only one who resorted to an insult. As I mentioned above, if you don’t think you said anything wrong regarding Stokes, there was no need to find any exception with @KGC83’s quip.

Players can play poorly though. It’s the complete overreaction by a few.

For instance?

Chops pointed out he isn't that great a T20 player compared to other formats which is fair comment. One poster said "he is currently doing an impersonation of the worst cricketer in the world" which was understandable because he had just bowled one of the worst overs I've ever seen.

Imagine when Durham win all you can think about is starting aggro with other posters over your interpretation of some crack they said an hour ago

Starting aggro? I’m just pointing out the over reaction of a few on here.

You were the one calling people clowns as well mind.

Because I'm sick of reading this antagonistic shit after every match, usually people jumping onto the thread at the end of the game. If people are going to troll they should expect to be called out for it. You aren't the moderator.

How was the criticism of Stokes over the top? He was bloody awful against Worcestershire but I can't recall anyone saying he should never play cricket again.

Question mark over whether he should have been playing if he ain't fit. Looked like he might have antagonised the injury today
