Durham v Warwickshire (a) T20

Bancroft is good bat but is a one trick pony.

Give your head a wobble. Decent in three formats, can keep wicket and skippered the white ball teams. He's like the new Hussey for me. His notoriety is our gain, otherwise he'd have a lot more people sniffing about.
.
Why are people even debating whether Stokes is a good player or not? Everyone knows he's one of the best in the world, the debate is whether he is good enough in T20 to warrant playing him when he's injured. I think we've been asked to play him by the ECB, to get him match fit for England, which grinds my gears, as it helped cost us two games and the fuckers won't let us play him when he's fit. His mental approach to those games was poor as well, treating them like a practice match and trying to hit every ball for six. Something changed between Worcestershire and Birmingham and he found his A game.
.
Him finding that A game doesn't nullify fair criticism of his performances in the previous two. I am unclear why he couldn't have played 2nd xi to get fit, before moving up to our blast first xi.

My argument is not about Bancroft per say, it was about some numpty basically challenging Stokes ability as a cricketer and not recognising his all round ability.

That said, Bancroft has no international record of repute and certainly no acolades as a keeper. I have supported Durham since 92 and if they signed Warner or Smith I would not have been happy. Bancroft is a good bat but as a person tried to conceal evidence and mislead match officials by denying knowledge of ball tampering, and IMO Durham deserve better.

2019 wants its patter back. I didn't want him at the club either, but he's been great for us and earned our affection and support. He played as keeper in the RLC in 2019 and did a good job.

He's also the only person prepared to come clean about the scale of ball tampering.

2019 or 1980. The bloke lied to the ICC and denied knowledge. But because he saw evidence stacking against him….he came clean. Great morals.
