Durham v Notts (H) 16/5/25

Unless we can really push the scoring rate it’s going to take a special a spell there have been some poor pitches this season very flat it’s not as bad the Hampshire wicket.

But not much in it for the bowlers.

Decent days cricket with the biggest plus being Minto looking very impressive with the bat. Gay looked Decent as well although he got a little bogged down but that was more down to Notts very defensive game plan. Hopefully just bat on tomorrow for as long as possible so Notts are only batting realistically to save the game.
Very disappointed with Notts approach today. Yes it's a slow wicket and their wasn't much movement off the pitch or through the air but with those boundary riders for most of the play it felt like a 50 over game where giving away singles wasn't an issue.

I imagine they'd been given permission to leak it. And it very much looks as if it'll be Bedders who misses out.
Very strange considering how he turned our campaign round

Unless maybe he is scheduled to miss most of it?

Really hope they give Minto a run
He'll be picked for South Africa as they have games coming up?

Where was the bold and attacking cricket that Ryan Campbell was relishing playing . .? This afternoons affair was torpid and sleep inducing and Notts were no better with their negative attitude in the field and negative run saving bowling.
I do think that the number of balls bowled at the actual stumps by the Notts bowlers were very minimal indeed so to a large extent you cannot blame the batsmen for leaving them be or not playing attacking shots.
Dear God I hope Notts don’t win the championship with the attitude apparent today
On view however Hameed has been head and shoulders above everyone else with his performance

Agree

Im convinced the outfield is slow and cost us 30,40 runs too

I find this post extremely harsh like. We were 400 behind, and ended the day a 100 behind

We scored at just over 3s. What’s the problem?

Agree with you...it was strange really because all of our batsmen made a start but none could accelerate once they got past 30 ...indeed Gays strike rate got worse after he reached 35.
It was frustrating really as i didnt see any reason why we couldnt have got a lotcloser to parity given the way Minto batted .

Must admit I'm a bit on the fence. I expected us to kick on a bit more given Minto put on 111 and 25 overs or so meaning the ball was soft and surely prime for the top order to take advantage of. See what happens tomorrow but I felt today was defensive from both sides for the last two sessions

Totally agree....even Cambo on the stream said he hoped to end the day about 50 behind but with 4 wickets down max...at least the latter was correct and should allow us to go for it tomorrow

It's a slow, dead wicket with Notts setting a defensive field.Bold, attacking cricket would have resulted in a careless loss of wickets. Durham continue in this vein tomorrow,Notts will be tired and then is the time to accelerate. Lead of 250+ hopefully and put Notts in for the last few overs

We scored 300 in a day like

Im perplexed by what people are talking about

This

Really surprised at that replies

Scoring 400 in a day isn’t normal like

There’s no pace in the wicket at all

Seems some people would rather we were 350 all out.

Not many years ago 3.29 an over would be considered a good run rate in first class cricket. Shame we won't get 4 or 5 batting points but we're in a really strong position going into day three. We've got some big hitters coming in lower down the order who could set up a declaration total.
