DURHAM v NOTTS (a) C.C.

Ackermann only one who can hold his head high for me.
Definately, Clark did ok but got out after looking well set.....thats the difference between Ackermann and our other middle order batters ( aside from Bedders of course ) .
Potts has bowled ok but then again he should
Clark hasn't done anything wrong
Other than staying in when well set both innings.....he would have saved the game with Ackers had he stayed in imo. Its disappointing but the fact is Ackers and Bedders are a level above the rest of our batting line up
Credit to Notts , other than their relative slow start to their first innings they were much more positive in their approach to the game as their ruthless finish showed

All over beaten by 8 wickets by the better team.
That's my run of starting the match thread over after the first match of the season. I nominate the safe hands of RED TELEPHONE to start the thread for Warwickshire.

They had a really good attack, people go on about county style bowlers, but on flatter pitches, you need that extra pace and spin, and they had it.

Bottom line is that McKinney, Gay, Robinson and Rhodes, all batters, scored 77 between them in 2 innings. Add to that, Lees got himself out in the first innings with a needless/daft shot when he was very well set. And I’m not criticising him btw.

McKinney and Robinson didn’t look comfortable at all.

So even leaving aside some at times pedestrian bowling, the lack of runs from players we should expect more from is what cost us. IMHO of course.

Can certainly see why Tongue is liked by England by the way. I thought he looked good in the Ashes before he got injured.

Hopefully he stays fit because I think he’s a great bowler.

Same. Think i had rose tinted glasses on a bit. Without Potts we could be in some bother
Yeah the bowling attack in this game is nee good on flat pitches.

As the riverside has been a flatter pitch in recent seasons so it's not ideal. Especially as we'll lose potts for ages.

They had the difference in quicker bowlers and even at such a young age a far better spinner. No attack on Drizzle but Farhan looks a top operator got Ackers with a lovely one in first innings.

Totally agree with you.....the fact that Nottinghams last 4 wickets produced 250 runs tells its own story

Did you stay until the bitter end?

Really it’s a game we should never have lost on that favourable batting strip.
But let’s hope for better things and better senses of judgement come Friday
Good wake up call for Durham really...perhaps too many ( including myself i might add ) thought we could really challenge this year.....but it will be a challenge at the wrong end of the table if we are consistantly reliant on 2 or 3 players producing any kind of goods

We need more bowling resources you take Potts out of this squad and you think who is taking a wicket.

I am very surprised they did not have an overseas seamer in first part Wagner is a good addition from June.
