DURHAM v NOTTS (a) C.C.

The ball is doing stuff that it didn't earlier. Durham up against it to get a draw.
This will be our undoing I fear. We were sitting at midwicket and the one that got Lees kept very low.

But obviously if we’d got more in the 1st innings and hadn’t bowled like planks at times, it might have been different. Lessons to be learned methinks.
I think Gay will come good. Just had a poor match.
I think you’re right

And Notts were tipped to be a middling side this season. Well they’re absolutely destroying us.

Theyve got a great attack mind, extra pace proving vital on this flat pitch

Btw lot of talk always on here about “throwing wickets away”, today is a good example of the opposite of that and why people should not be too critical.

Far too cautious, stuck in the crease, looking to survive. Sitting ducks.

Exactly ....our approach is inviting pressure

Very poor effort this but this 11 would not win many matches.

You can’t play a batsman at 7, Rhodes bowling is not up to 4th seamer.

Bedders will help the batting really worry is how we take 20 wickets.

Agree I don't understand the role we are trying to give Rhodes in our side, throughout his career he's been batting at number 3 and someone who bowls the odd over, now we have him batting at 6 as the all-rounder in the team. It imbalances the team and massively weakens our bowling attack, especially as we don't have a spinner good enough to chip in with wickets on a regular basis.

Whilst on the face of it, Rhodes is a decent signing, I think he might imbalance us a bit as he doesn't look up to being a 4th seamer in Division 1. We again lack options in the spin department too and Drissell is decent limited overs bowler and not much more, and Parkinson probably falls into the same category.

We need a breakthrough season for one of Killeen/Minto/Hogg and Doggett to come good as once Potts is on England duty, it's a little worrying.

We have a long tail but I'd not be against leaving out Clark or Rhodes as it stands, and playing an extra bowler as Coughlin, Raine and Potts are far from complete rabbits. It will put a lot of pressure on the top 6 though.
