DURHAM v NOTTS (a) C.C.

Well the opening match of match of the season is a week away and the pre season matches complete. Personally expecting a big season from Durham certainly in the championship. They have certainly been spending the dough they are saving on the 4 players who are on central contracts.
As far as the opening game goes it looks like a few likely starters may not be available for a variety of reasons. As far as the batting goes Bedinghams availability for the Notts game must be in doubt as he is currently playing in a first class match for Western Provence and they have another match starting next Thursday.
With the bowling as we knew Doggett is not available for the opener and also the speculation that De leede is to play white ball only this summer. Added to this the lack of cricket that Hogg Connors and Coughlin have played pre season must mean that they are all at the very least risky starters in the Notts match.
On the positive side it should give opportunities to others if these players are not available.

Lees
Mckinney
Rhodes
Bedingham/Gay
Robinson
Ackerman
Gay/Clark
Raine
Potts
Killeen
Parkinson

Possible line up but looks a bit light in the bowling.

Surely we should honour all Durham players who went on to play Test Cricket for England ?

David Charles Townsend. Born April 20th 1912 at Norton on Tees.
Last man to play Test match cricket without playing for a First class county.
Played for Durham, Minor Counties, and Oxford University.
Selected for Test tour of West Indies in 1935.
Played 3 test matches on the tour.
Died January 1997, at Norton on Tees
Played 3 Test matches and 37 First class games for Oxford.

Townsend played minor counties for Durham from 1935-1950.
Apologies, this should have been entered in the Hall of Fame thread !

Killeen bowled pretty well in the 1st innings v the University. Will give Campbell something to think about I reckon.
Agree about Killeen but I think Minto will get the nod. Bedders not available for first game along with Doggett's Window according to ITKs.

True he bowled well against the students, I just feel with Minto being left-arm and quicker it gives our attack more variation especially if it's a flat surface.

Bit of poetic licence with the spelling but if he produces of the same quality as the similarly named store he'll be an ace signing. I can't remember those stores, "the Harrods of the NE",only hearsay from long deceased elders.
Hubert Doggart, England cricketer and Sussex legend, from the same lineage.

Any update on Hogg's fitness from itk?
