Durham v Middlesex [A] C.C. 1/5/26

They're in charge of the match. They don't need to play Bazball, just score 600+ in the favourable batting conditions and put us in under leaden skies on Sunday and Monday.

Our lack of bowling depth has bitten us on the arse again.

Mate, it’ll take them until after lunch tomorrow to score 600 at this rate. They’re in charge of nothing except letting the game die.

Potts & Raine must be a bit sick at times literally carrying this attack with nothing behind them. But we did not strengthen the bowling in the summer and not much has come through the academy last few years either.
Well, aside from Minto and Robinson, who is really a white ball player, we had Mitch Killeen and Daniel Hogg out of the academy but one's constantly injured and the other was made a desultry contract offer so left. I am at the stage where I think we should have simply held onto Matt Salisbury.

There is restriction at present i.e. restriction to 4 days duration. Unfortunately, restrictions are sometimes necessary to overcome negativity.

Well I did say virtually no restrictions but yes some are necessary.

I just dont feel a 100 over limit is good for the game. We probably wouldn't see players getting triple centuries as this is something that generally happens in first innings.

I would rather see groundsman being instructed to prepare better pitches. Make them a bit more lively.

They are scoring at 2.95 an over with 66 overs left in the day. Slow by modern standards but not all time. If they don't take any chances we are chasing c.550 with ten overs today and TRJ favourable conditions for the next two days.

We need to conjure four wickets.

Can’t take wickets in the dressing room, rain forecast for much of tomorrow.

430 ao in 141 overs. Take out extras and that's less than 3 runs an over throughout. A disgrace.
The only way I can see a positive result here is we declare around 70-80 behind to see if they are prepared to score quickly 2nd innings and set us a total to chase.
