Durham v Lancashire [H] C.C. 24/4/26

Lancashire have bowled with a lot of discipline in this match. Think McKinney was playing for movement away on that one and was fooled in the end as the ball held it's line.

Good session that, hopefully the rain stays away so we get an exciting finish. These two have played well with a positive mindset after the openers got bogged down a bit.

Decent enough session.

The scoring rate is OK. This is very much on for us.
Absolutely ....but I feel that in order to win one of these two have to bat long. There is no reason we can't win this provided we bat with the discipline Coughlin showed yesterday....but so far so good. Bedders and Gay seem happy to meet the 4 an over target and having reached it are not taking risks ( so far ) .....this is a good sign. Measured cricket.

Re the "mentally weak" accusation towards Durham ...i dont think anyone can argue that we seemingly saw this many times last season ....I believe they have appointed a sports psychologist for this season ( certainly they advertised for one ) so hopefully that issue hoghlighted post season is being addressed. Signs are encouraging so far this season

The required rate has been about 3.6ish most of the day. If we want to go for it then we need to push on as even if it doesn't rain, I'm sure bad light will become an issue. Even if we lose 10 overs, it's still only 219
in 50 overs.

We certainly have the batsmen to meet the 3.6 target....its all about whether the batsmen can keep their discipline imo....but so far so good

On the stream they were saying that Lancs were not allowed to sub Arav Shetty the all-rounder who bowls a bit of spin for Tom Hartley, instead it was the wicketkeeper/batsman George Bell that was brought in. Has there been any official reasoning behind that? Not complaining as a Durham fan as it doesn't give Lancs a spinning option on the final day but it does make this sub rule seem a bit of a farce.

Together with Benks as batting consultant.Hopefully,McKinney can develop with his guidance.

Hartley, having represented England, was deemed far more experienced than Shetty and hence not a like for like replacement. Lancs Aussie Harris arguing that you're unlikely to have an identical replacement.A like for like for Jimmy Anderson 🤔

it being a farce or being games was always the danger with it.

on the games, i have just managed to catch up and I'm glad to see Durham making a game of it. So far its been an ideal match, assuming Durham go on to win that is. I not, we wus robbed!
