If they wish to persist with this, the solution is simple. The umpires and captains sit down before the game and agree which player would replace every player. No substitutes in the second innings. This would avoid a stiff batsmen being injured and replaced with a Jonty Rhodes, or Derek Randall if the older viewers prefer.As soon as the rule came in, you could see all this coming tbf
