Durham v Lancashire [H] C.C. 24/4/26

Why did we chose to field?

We've seen over the past few years this is a bat first ground these days.

I think the theory in cases such as this; where a flat pitch which is expected to hold itself together for four days (which has seemingly become the norm at CLS under Vic), is that the first morning/day might be the best time to get any sort of assistance out of it.

It’s what England and Surrey have done over recent years. You need to take 20 wickets to win a game of cricket and bowling first gives you the best chance of doing that.

Aye understand the logic there.

But were a better batting side than we are a bowling side. I don't get the giving up a potentially big score to the other side first up.

Conners with a hideous delivery that is slapped into the hands of Potts at point

Big moment in the game this, Harris in my view is the best overseas batsman currently playing in the Championship not named David Bedingham.

I’d always bat first, especially when we had the better of Kent in the last game by batting first and getting a lead. That said, that pitch did a bit, this one hasn’t yet.
