Durham v Kent (h) C.C. ( 3/4/26)

Lucky to keep his job after last season. And Lees with the captaincy.

He probably was lucky, but I’m glad he’s still here. Personally he should have credit in the bank following our promotion in 2023, because that was arguably the best cricket I’ve ever seen Durham play and yes, I do include the 3 Championship title wins in that.

It’s easy to sack a bloke following a relegation, but I’m confident that he’ll get us back up in time (maybe next season, if not this) aslong as he’s backed.

What is that decision from the umpire?!

They’ve literally been against us from ball one. I would NEVER use the word conspiracy, because the bed wetters were bleating on about that the other day, despite the word itself never actually having been used - but they’ve given us absolutely nothing in this match and the evidence is on video for all to see. That’s not an opinion.

That’s all before you talk about the pathetic behaviour around bad light across the first two days and the utter embarrassment that was Day 3.
We're playing 13 men here.

I genuinely don’t think that is too excessive of a comment. You’ll upset a few though.

That three wheeled yellow van has turned up again with Batman and Robin at the wheel. They’ll be going out to the middle shortly. Trigger is on hand to sweep up the Kent tail later on today!

Have to try and push the score on which naturally comes with added risk on a wicket which is nipping a bit and also holding up on the odd delivery ie. Robinson, Clark so I can’t understand where the head loss is coming from from half the people on here.

As for Campbell, we played exactly the same way to get promoted the other year and he was heralded as a revelation. We won’t get promoted with borefest draws so we need to accept being aggressive and taking risks is part and parcel of winnings games.

What do you base this confidence on? Many first teamers have regressed since that season (e.g. Lees, Robinson) and we have less strength in depth after releasing players.

That's not how we got promoted. We lost one game, drew six and had a huge number of batting points. We didn't go in gung ho.

We’ve had one bad season under him, you say ‘regressed’ but I’d argue that’s only recency bias because our down year was last season - alternatively we could call last year nothing other than the outlier, rather than the norm and if we do that he’s 2-1 up on the scoresheet and I’m fairly happy at present to be patient and to give him the chance to right the wrongs of 2025.

Odd tactics here just playing out a maiden when we already have a lead over 300

Seems like time is the scenario now and it’ll be after lunch.

Oddly Kent have showed zero interest in righting that slow over rate so a points deduction must be guaranteed.
