Durham v Kent (A) C.C. 15/5/26

Seems a bit harsh but unless they decide to rest Raine, I have Aldridge missing out along with Minto and Rhodes.

Would be daft resting him if he’s travelled (if he has), with Potts they left him at home.

As stated elsewhere, I want them to pick their strongest XI. Why risk allowing the pack to catch up by playing silly buggers with selection in the last game for a month…?

We now have to take a full compliment of extra players to use as possible injury substitutions just in case

Completely agree and couldn't recall if Potts had travelled to Worcester, the fact that Raine has travelled suggests he will play.

Only a green top would see me leave out Parky for an extra seamer.

Good point.

I’m also aware that it isn’t an official squad (there’s no requirement for them to do that) and so there’s every chance there are players on that list who aren’t travelling - and some others that have.

Very strong squad nonetheless, I suspect it’ll be the same team as last week with Potts shoehorned in somewhere and it’ll be a case of waiting to see what conditions and pitch look like tomorrow.

Weather isn’t the greatest over the weekend according to the forecast and with it being at an outground we could see a lot of play lost.

The weather has been dreadful here for a couple of days and rain is due tomorrow. Beckenham is normally a batting paradise and it’s a decent ground in its own right, is it the only full time second ground in the county championship?

Kent are playing 2 spinners it seems. I’m not sure how you get a raging Bunsen wicket from a week of rain and freezing temperatures but let’s see!

Beckenham is a brisk 10 mins walk away so if the weather is bad there are some decent bars in range.

Persistent rain forecast for Sunday and Monday Appears very little chance of a positive result
but,as ever, varying forecasts are more optimistic

It’s not a club ground. It’s Kent’s second ground, it’s such a large county and most of the population is London based which is a long way from Canterbury. The international touring sides often use it to train on / play warm up games before the London tests, and there are various other academy, 2nd team and ladies games played there etc. There just isn’t enough men’s county cricket these days to get enough fixtures moved from Canterbury to Beckenham unfortunately, I think this is the first 1st class game being held there for about 10 years.
