Striker
Starts tomorrow at 11am

Entry is free.

Paul Collingwood (5) *
Phil Mustard (19) +
Mark Stoneman (26)
Keaton Jennings (1)
Scott Borthwick (16)
Micahel Richardson (18)
Gareth Breese (70)
Gordon Muchall (24)
Usman Arshad (78)
Paul Coughlin (29)
Jamie Harrison (13)
Chris Rushworth (22)
Graham Onions (9)

Looks like a straight choice between Muchall/Breese, and Coughlin/Arshad.
Colly will probably bat at no6 in chapionship again but i would have thought he would have to bat at no3 or 4 in this match as he must be desperate for some practice in the middle. It would be a nightmare if they skittle out the uni team then he comes into bat at 300/5.

If it comes to that we'd probably shuffle the order in the second innings.

Out of that I'd like to see -

Stoneman
Jennings
Borthwick
Richardson
Collingwood
Breese
Mustard
Arshad
Harrison
Rushworth
Onions

The way Lewis was talking after the MCC match sounded like Coughlin was ahead in the pecking order.

I don't know much about the lad, can anyone fill me in?

Arshad looked quality last season and handy with the bat too.

Harrison has to play for me, nice variation in the attack with him there.

Paul Coughlin is from Hetton le Hole and played all his club cricket at Eppleton before joining the Academy. He was a batsmen who bowled when he joined the Academy but they have been working tirelessly on his bowling. He's now 6'4" (or taller) and is bowling in the high 80's. Did not bowl at all last season due to a stress factor in his back that he picked up playing grade cricket in Australia. Still a decent bat and a superb fielder.
He's a really nice lad but certainly has a nasty streak on a cricket field and has a winning mentality. I hope he does get a chance so the supporters can see him in action. It was great to see two Eppleton juniors in the Durham CCC v MCC game with both Paul and Scott Borthwick playing. Took me back to the early days when Jimmy Daley and Shaun Birbeck were playing for Durham.[DOUBLEPOST=1396804503][/DOUBLEPOST]

Sunday Sun link about Paul Coughlin.

There is another Coughlin at the academy, under 15 or so IIRC. Scored a hatful of runs last year for his club side including a double century.

There will be no play today. Pissing it down.[DOUBLEPOST=1396879987][/DOUBLEPOST]
Inspection at 11.30
Went down at 2.30pm just as it was called off. It was a dismal scene. Now chucking it down!
