Durham v Derbyshire 11th-14th July

229 partnership after being in a massively strong position to win just sums up this season.
As soon as the balli goes soft we are truly knackered as a bowling unit. The run out chance apart these two could bat till Christmas.
Hope I'm wrong but it looks like a potential 350 plus lead and us batting to save the draw..
Tough to watch !!

Only thing going for us now is that Godleman might feel like nothing short of a lead of over 400 is good enough given their recent loss at Sussex - which would mean we won’t have to face more than 80 overs or so.

The batting is much stronger nowadays but the bowlers struggle to take 20 wickets
We'll find out how much of a struggle tomorrow.
Question is when does the Derbyshire declaration come?
Quick thrash first thing and aim to set Durham 360ish in 90 overs giving them 10 overs with a 2nd new ball if necessary. A disciplined start for Durham is essential, no Bazball from Lees.
Durham players morale must be rockbottom, however, given the basket case of a club we've been allowed to come.

However, I’d still rather be chasing a total than trying to get ten wickets in the day. Granted it will probably be beyond us.

Derbyshire shouldn't be losing from here but the way the wicket has behaved through the three days so far a draw should be favourite (instantly regret saying that)

After Sussex knocked 345 off the other week then your 360 is probably about right

Very disappointing.

I fear we are in danger of just becoming another also-ran club these days. Just another Leicestershire or Worcestershire. It’s a world away from where we were 10 years ago. People say we should just worry about producing players for England but I want to see Durham competing for trophies.

Major changes are needed this summer.

I was talking to some of the Derbyshire fans at the end and they cited this game as the reason why they'll bat on tomorrow. Tbh I was surprised that they didn't push on a bit once Guest and Du Plooy reached their tons.
