Durham v Birmingham (a) t20

The general cricketing public.

‘Professionalism’ has nothing to do with it.

id argue the opposite, the general cricketing public are more inclined to watch white ball, Test and CC fans id say were a minority....and im one of them.

i know loads of cricket fans and club cricketers who wouldnt entertain a day at a CC game but would watch a 50 over or 2 over game, and as kids go they need a fair bit of indoctrination to go from playing and watching short format to becoming red ball fans

it's shit therefore it's disowned, not the other way round.

hit giggle or proper cricket, i nar which i prefer. you're entitled to prefer whichevr you like
go and cry about it, maybe watch a few of your red ball games. This is the precise reason people struggle to get into cricket because people like you moan on and call it shit. It'd be different if we hit the QF/semi-final stage. Jog on mate

ya talking hot air mate
T20 is a contrived form of cricket putting restrictions on bowlers and fielding positions to give an advantage to the batsmen. It's no longer an even contest, therefore, between bat and ball. Hence it's not regarded as 'proper' cricket.
The term is not intended to decry or disown T20 which is clearly the more popular form with the modern generation.
What a load

You can argue what you want, it’s been done to death on here and to be honest it’s pretty tedious every time that a load of people get angry at such a throwaway term.

It has never been about who likes what, or which format the masses prefer. Ultimately, it’s simply down to recognition of terminology, but cricket was always about white clothing and a red ball - hundreds and hundreds of years of that, before anything else came along. How long has white ball cricket existed? Less than half a century.

That’s where the term ‘proper cricket’ comes from.

‘Once upon a time they played cricket in England on Saturdays. Proper cricket, with white flannels, a red ball, and no restrictions on overs or field placings. Up and down the country, men and women of good character gathered to watch the cricketers of the first-class counties, strange though it may seem from this distance.’

It is NOT about denigrating any other format of the game, I love the long format, I love 50 over (loved the 40/45 over county stuff too) and I love T20 - it is simply an acknowledgment of a long history of phraseology.

If you can't qualify that comment it's meaningless.

You’re just admitting you’re all dinosaurs who can’t cope with an evolving sport. Oh my god som body enjoys the T20? Let’s shit on them for it and make it feel like it isn’t “proper cricket”. Maybe have a word with beefy for making the season so short and dense. Anyway I’m at work now and frankly don’t give a toss (get it lol?) what you think about the sports I decide to follow.
not even trying to make a point? fair enough
Hadaway again

I like T20. That’s my point. You can’t cope with that fact clearly.
