Final match of another disappointing t20 campaign. I would imagine an unchanged XI unless someone has a niggle.
Feels like we are not a millions miles away but again its similar failings that have prevented us from winning enough matches.
Tough game to finish the ladder of with Birmingham looking the best outfit in the North section.

It’s really frustrating that we’re so close to qualification from the group stage even though we sit second bottom.

The OP and Marty (in his match notes) rightly hinted at how poor the campaign has been, but those two games we tied probably should’ve been wins and when you consider we’ve endured 7 consecutive games without a win it’s quite annoying how close we’ve come to qualifying despite the perception that it’s been a poor campaign.

We lost twice to Leicestershire and have two ties, fine margins and all that.
 
If you compare our performances overall this season, we are miles ahead of last year when we didn’t look interested half the time. It’s disappointing that but for a couple of results, we could have been looking forward to a QF place.

All will be forgotten when we win the CC Div 2 by a mile 😁

Not forgetting the home fixture against Warwickshire when Souter and Rainey brought us back from the dead only for us to throw it away in the last over.

All very frustrating but as @mosi mentions promotion from CC Div 2 is the No.1 priority as we'd all agree....mind you we could easily be sitting on 8 wins out of 8 in that as well.:lol:

T20 is a game of fine margins and we've come down on the wrong side narrowly more than our fair share. On top v Yorkies when abandoned and ahead on DLS v Worcs until last ball.
Thought our fielding was below par on many occasions which was the main reason for not qualifying but can't say I'm bothered -gives the team a week's rest before 3_important CC. games which to me is the most important format.

Very much so, I’d take a shit 50 over campaign now if it guaranteed a CCD2 title, but then I think we have a good chance of going far in the 50 over stuff because I reckon our squad is more suited to that than the T20.

We were terrible in the RL50 last year, but I think it will be different this year, and as you say, this probably suits us better. I dare say that some 1st choice players will have 16.4 contracts, but we can still be competitive.
 
Haven’t been able to watch this, but that looks like a pretty decent performance with the ball.
