Durham to be Relegated

For me the old cliche about learning more about a person/team when things are going wrong is true with Durham. I'm struggling to think of many instances where when the chips have been down we have shown the right attitude. For me that is a captaincy/leadership issue. I don't think short term CC signings help in respect of this either. No disrespect to Codi Yusuf, he is merely an example, but is he really better to the extent that it is worth hampering a youngster getting a decent chance?

problem is the younger bowlers aren't reliable fitness wise and our main one is away with england.

Injury has played a big part in it as well. Just looked and we’ve used 25 players this year already in the Championship!

Essex - 16
Hampshire - 20

It’s a real worry poor recruitment, lack of application when batting. Lees captaincy is very poor.

Potts has been nowhere near his usual standard and no decent spin option. Most of the top 6 have had one good game then go missing for a few.

Was not sold on Rhodes or Gay at least he’s has a couple of good knocks Rhodes looks a strange signing.

Sadly all the young bowlers are injured or not come on.

Last year Raine and Potts where both brilliant Raine had been good as ever Potts by his own high standards has been very poor.

We need a couple of wins to be safe hope we get them. But if we play like we have last few games we are bang in trouble.

All true but
The buck stops at the top

Yorkshire fail to get max bowling points, and heading for a draw.

Fingers crossed Warwickshire can prevent Worcestershire winning

Putting up a good fight AND if they get to Tea with no more than 4 down (it’s 3 currently) I reckon they’ll go for the win.
I wonder if those who went felt the £33.00 a day ticket was worth it.

Would love to see the Surrey boys take a few quick ones here to set the Yorkies away sweating.

Just looked at that, I wonder if they fancy it?

Either way it's a poor look for Durham and we should never be talking like this, piss poor

Gay has been the only decent signing IMO. Good replacement for Borthwick at number 3.

It's no wonder the captain has struggled to work out his bowling options when there's literally a new line-up every week.

That's where I think the loan signings and overseas players popping by for a couple of games doesn't help. You'd think it would be easier for a captain to at least have some idea of what he has got to work with, even if it was an inexperienced youngster.

100% marra. It took SB a few years to work out the best way to utilise his bowlers and Alex Lees has had to do this with 19 of them, several of which being out of form or unfit, then throw the Kookaburra curve ball into the mix.

What beggars belief for me is the lack of faith placed in Callum Parkinson. The guy was signed as a frontline spinner and we play an all-rounder no better than his predecessor instead. We weakened the bowling attack to strengthen batting that was OK to start with.
