Durham T20 Vitality Blast Match Thread

Lees, Clark, Turner, Bedders, Robbo, McKinney, Bas (Coggers if fit or if Bas is away), Trev, Raine, Glover, Sowter

I think with Jones for McKinney, this will be the starting IX on Friday. I can’t see any way that Jones won’t play. He’s in good form and had a decent World Cup with Scotland. I never thought (much as I like him) that he’d progress as he has, and certainly not as a T20 batter.

It was wonderful seeing him twat the Glos attack all over Bristol at the weekend 😂

Well, it looks like I'll be returning to Headingley on Sunday. A friend I used to work with, a lancastrian who I introduced to cricket, has asked if I want to meet up and go to the match.

So, I'll just hope for a good game of cricket I suppose, and enjoy the overpriced naff beer!

You're doing him a disservice...it was a 3rd ball duck.. Amazingly we've won our last two home T20 matches against Lancashire.

Didn’t we tie the one before that too?!
I'm sticking to the red ball. I imagine my 'lucky winning streak' in the CC threads won't last long on the Blast.

Aye, you keep away from them bloody T20 threads lad, I’m resting you for the proper cricket ;).

I’m quite looking forward to this campaign now though, I think with the start we’ve made to the season added to the positive impact and messaging from the coaching staff we can expect a team who has clear plans of what they want to do and one that will play with freedom to express themselves and enjoy it. I think it goes without saying that we’ll go into most games as underdogs with our history in the competition and I expect most on here will expect failure - which is completely understandable given the circumstances.

BUT, that said, I think we’ll be sneaky good this year. With regards to what I’ve already said above and with what I see as a very useful and powerful batting lineup and some very capable spin bowling options. The obvious weakness being (or seeming to be) a limited and inexperienced seam bowling corps. Parnell’s inclusion helps, but doesn’t go anywhere near to answering what appears to be a difficult question.
