Same thought occurred to me, wonder how this has gone down with the likes of Burnham and Scott Steel. Obviously a mixture of youth and experience is required, be interesting to see how we manage that balance.

Have a look at the team that finished this season or the one likely to start this years. I’m sure there’ll be more than enough local talent to justify the decision of adding one or two ‘foreigners’.

Playing with and learning from Divo and Benks undoubtedly helped develop Rocky and Badger into 1st class cricketers. North is quoted as saying when Behardien was signed it was partially to help in the development of youngsters like Burnham, Steel, Bell etc. Nothing hypocritical about it, we're still developing cricketers for England-there are 3 currently in England squads.

It’s not one or two now though is it?
Durham should have 5-6 local lads in the side at all times for me. The trophy wins were great because the sides were choc full with lads who’d come through local clubs.

Burnham, Raine, Coggers, Rushy will be fixtures in the side, Carse pretty much counts as one of us. Scott Steel, Bell, Clarke, Potts, Trev will be around the squad.

There are, but the point was that we should have 5/6 graduates in the team. We usually do, and will do next season as well.
Would be great if we could keep all of our talent and have a team full of locals, but we don't have it at the minute. So are we happy to finish last while we get ourselves together?
If Keats, Rocky and Badger were still here then we wouldn't have signed these.
