Durham Loan Signing


Thompson has scored 316 runs and taken 20 wickets in first class cricket ! Who's place does he take ? He is 27yrs old.
Agree, Trevaskis is finished.
Ryan Pringle is 28yrs old, scored 1330 runs and taken 63 wickets !

Is it just me or is Trevaskis getting a bit of a raw deal at Durham compared to some over the years. For me he has been out most effective bowler in one day cricket over the past 3 seasons.
Is a 27 year old from the Warwickshire stiffs likely to be any better in the short or long term.
 
Certainly appears at bit harsh/premature -Trevaskis ER in 50over cricket is <5 and in T20 just >7 which are perfectly respectable stats, especially for a youngster who is not yet 22 year old. But premature for us to make a call as Thompson is only here for 4 day cricket and,of course, we aren't party to what's going on behind the scenes.
 
Dunno about this one. If he plays it would surely be in place of Trevaskis. Every time I've seen him play I've thought Trev had something about him.

See how he does.

Statistically speaking them, thompson is a nobody. really odd move like
 
Paul Farbrace, Director of Cricket at Warwickshire, said: “We think a lot of Alex and this loan move represents the best opportunity for him to get first team cricket during this early part of the season, with Danny Briggs confirmed as our starting spinner.
“This loan move gives Alex an excellent opportunity at Durham to play some competitive games and to continue his development at Durham after starting all five First Class fixtures last year. We will certainly be closely monitoring his progress.

On Trevaskis I was harsh by saying he was finished. He will play in the 50 over competition and will play some games in the T20 Blast. Just seems he will not get a game in first class cricket.
Reading what Warwickshire have said, Thompson will have to play some of the first class games in the first 2 months of the season.
This could lead to 6 batters selected, including Eckersley or Poynter as a wicketkeeper/batsman, 4 seamers and Thompson.
