Durham in signing a player shocker

Expectations were raised because durham tweeted a big signing about to be revealed.

Hastings is a good player but not a big name. Not yet anyway. The club have taken dog's abuse for their tweet. They should think before they tweet. If they'd just said they've signed an overseas player it wouldn't have been so bad.
You make a fair point there, it was more like a tweet for some awful celebrity tv show than a county cricket overseas signing.

This.

I think the majority of us on here are excited to see what the lad can do. I think he'll be a valuable asset for us. It's just that as has already been mentioned - it's underwhelming a little after the rumours and the Tweet.

The clubs PR and Social Media is f***ing shite mind. Has been for a long while. They can fuck off with that #jets shite too.

I love the colour red, but Durham CCC are blue and yellow/gold. End of.

Just saying, but possibly to do with the colour of Durham City?

should be black with a red cross if so. that i could handle, the plain red kit looks daft. pyjama cricket at its worst.

This is a f***ing joke. They said a BIG signing.

I am completely disappointed.

Hastings is pretty big like, population around 90,000, pinching it off Kent is a good move after they've took Davies, Claydon & gentle ben.

The thing that concerns me about the change to colour to red is this the sign of a trend at the club that everything is up for sale to the highest bidder?
I hate 'The Emirates International Cricket Ground' name, it sounds ridiculous. I accepted it though as many clubs sell the naming rights to sponsors, again the new name 'jets' I don't like but I can live with, many counties have changed the one day/T20 names over the years. The change of colours away from the traditional county colours is a step too far, red has nothing to do with the county. What else could possibly be sold off?

I'll ask David Harker later when he gives me a massage

The only thing I'm pissed off about is 60 bastard quid to watch Eng v SL ODI. - (I'm doing Old Trafford and Lords instead £40 & £45)

Ffs - a ticket in the Mound Stand at Lords for the test match v SL is £50 which is a much better view.

And I know which is the better venue!!!!

To be honest I am not really bothered about what colour we play the one day stuff in, or what we call ourselves. In terms of tradition as long as we keep the same colours in the 4 day stuff in terms of the trim on the sweaters I would sell anything we can! We don't have much choice in our current predicament.

Are there any left for these? not living too far from Lords might try and go a bit this summer

I tend to agree with that sentiment somewhat. If the proper cricket aspect is protected and made paramount in the clubs importance - I couldn't give a shite what they choose to do with the T20 or 50 over bollocks.

But that's exactly my point is the 'proper cricket aspect' protected or has that got a price tag too? What if Emirates, B.D or whoever wanted the jumper trim changed to red and black or some other corporate colour scheme?

the worst thing about it is it was actually picked from suggestions from durham cricket followers. christ the rest of the stuff must have been awful.

no i retract that, the worst thing about it is still the actual name itself.

Nah, as much as I'd like to believe it's protected, of course it isn't. There's been much evidence over the last 5/6 years to believe that Durham CCC will sell their arse to whoever pays the most money. :(
