Yeah, the writing is on the wall for Lees.

I can see that Crawley is younger and has a higher level of potential so in that way it makes sense to retain him Vs Lees. But I think he needs to do more in this next 12 months.

Aye but crawlers shit

Pottsy a bit unlucky to miss out on full contract being a pace bowler.
Only early days for him. Think he’d be very happy with what he’s been offered. With the likes of Broad, Anderson, Robinson & Archer, he’ll probs be the rotation player to start with.
How’s Sam Curran on a full deal? He’s surely nowhere near the test side?

Also does make worrying thoughts at CLS. We are very short of bowlers if Potts has gone, what if Rushworth just had another average year like this year? Or Raine gets injured. Could be another very long season or two…..

If you look at the central contracts the importance of protecting one day cricketers is becoming more prelevent.
Thompson the new ECB chairman said as much as his priority against loosing them to franchise cricket around the world.

Archer is a surprise as well considering he hasn't played in ages due to injury, and no guarantee what he will be like when he is back

The county still pay the player his salary but get a set compensation payment from the ECB plus a payment for appearances the player makes for England. There are probably other details but i think thats the most basic way how it works.
I searched it up online and it seemed to say that the players were paid between £200-300k a year on one? Maybe I’m wrong. Is there still the white ball only contracts too or is it just the central & incremental ones now?

I think they have scrapped the red/white ball contracts and just have what they believe are the most important cricketers on full central contracts. Probably the reason Moeen got one. As i said previously the main aim of the new ECB chairman is to protect the national team from loosing players to the emerging international franchise leagues.

How the fuck has Archer and Crawley got one?

Potts has been superb this summer yet doesn’t get one?

Jobs for the boys.
