Durham Departures 2025

You'll have played junior cricket with Seb Hughes -Pinan who seems to left the Academy system to go to Uni 🤔 Was your dad a cricketer 🤔
I'm older than Seb, so never played junior cricket with him, but have been back at CLS CC, where I started, for a decade now. My dad wasn't a cricketer, played at school and tried out for CLS CC when junior cricket was an U18 side only way back in the mid 70s.

I know Q of course; Seb's dad.
God those were good times mate weren't they? Austin's after the game, good craic every game and a good set of lads...
Brilliant times. Really loved those days. I was just a kid.

Bushnell was the one that annoyed me, he was treated so badly. Head and shoulders above most of the others mentioned in this thread, and very handy with the ball on his day. Seemingly fell victim to that year we stacked the batting lineup with imports. And to see the likes of Aldridge and Connors getting gigs just feels like a huge kick in the balls for everything Durham stands for.

I believe Bushy did well for Glos and should be getting a contract there. Wouldn't be surprised to see him do well there long term. He's a lovely lad with his head screwed on!

I believe Gloucestershire (certainly the coaches) are keen but they were waiting to appoint their new Director of Cricket before making a decision. They've just made that announcement this morning so there should be news either way for Bushnell soon.

Sadly, it just demonstrates cricket is like any other business. Sometimes timing and/or whether your face fits means more than your actual worth to the team. We seem happy to pay money for imports to come in and bowl 24 balls and maybe have a quick slog in t20s but when it comes to long term investment in local(ish) talent, we've gone backwards very quickly, and with the current regime in charge, probably irretrievably.

Another oddity for me was Ross Greenwell .Came through the Academy system and captained the 2018 NEPL side .Played in the pre season in 2019 v the Uni with scores of 4 and 31 and never seen again at first team level .I'm sure he was working for Durham County Council by the end of season. Now at Burnmoor

Still no official word on who's leaving.

Its like the Secret Service. A professional club run by amateurs.

I wonder if they volunteer anything at the meeting tomorrow.

Probably won't find out until pre-season next year knowing our communication/media team.

I notice Bas is not mentioned on the recent article put out by Durham regarding the Dutch squad announcement. I think that says all we need to know.

I thought he'd already signed for Gloucestershire but neither club has confirmed anything.
