Have to be honest I think it stinks that at least two loyal staff members have left the club recently who have been here decades, and whilst one got a couple of sentences in the year book, I find it appalling they club haven't bothered to make any sort of appreciation post electronically about either. Many years ago this club was built on a foundation of "one big family". Sadly now it seems a million miles away from that and I find that very sad. The two people in question have been outstanding loyal servants to the cricket club, a little wider "thank you" wouldn't have been much effort.

I heard Richard Dowson had left, who else has gone?

On the topic of bowling reserves; very strong looking attack for the lads today as our 2’s take on the students at the Racecourse.

Minto
Conners
Robinson
Bailey
Parkinson

Young Charlie Harmison is in the lineup too.

Ackermann fixed himself up with a local side Darlington Railway Athletic Cricket Club

Once played an Under 18 game there, Brinkburn Road is their ground. Played NL football there too against them actually.

They batted first and put on 220-1 in their 20 overs, this is YEARS before the advent of T20 and big bats

Anyway, as we went into the dressing room at the interval, the heavens opened and we needed a canoe to get back across to the car park for the journey home.

On a more serious note, I think I’m right in saying they live stream their games. So the badgers amongst us can keep a watchful eye on his performances.

Who were they?

I also played their at U18 level just before T20 took off. We won by 5 wickets chasing down around 110 and I dropped a dolly.

Used to work on Brinkburn Road and popped to the cricket club during lockdown restrictions for an outside pint, a glorious spot on a warm day.

Heard today Will Rhodes may not play at all this season.

That would be a huge shame. I know he struggled last season in the CC (Had a good 50 over season however), but he's a wholehearted trier and we've not seen the best of him. Pre-season performances suggested he was coming into some form and I think he's a better bet than Ackermann.
