Durham CCC 30th Anniversary Buffet Thurs Aug 25

Wasn't too bad at all
One thing that we both picked up on tonight was Killeen saying how much the club/squad etc appreciate the support... I don't disagree with that on the whole but I can't for the life of me agree concerning North & Franklin who never have time to speak to anyone at the ground. Zero personality at all, certainly don't give the impression they appreciate/care the support & want to mix/engage with people which in my opinion is a key part of the Durham ethos/community as shown tonight.
Their mobile phone trick they use at the 2nd XI games when approaching the members borders on genius - just a pity we've not had the opportunity to witness it this season.

It looked a young and vibrant crowd in last night 😉
Just PR crap these nights would always take whats said with a pinch of salt, same as the drivel the two clowns used to put out when they first took over the lads.

Totally get that but the older players had no reason for the PR crap and it was good to hear people like Simon Brown, someone as a young lad I admired massively. I do agree with you though relating to things Killeen said which a couple of us have already mentioned, I thought he was kidding himself with some of the stuff he was saying.

Good to see and hear Simon Brown there and Ash Patel and Steve Atkinson from the minor counties days. Thought Killeen talked a load of crap when he said stuff like we'll be winning silverware in the next year or two but I suppose it wouldn't be good practice to give the members the true picture.
SR Atkinson ,all time cricketing hero . Stalwart of the Durham Minor Counties team of the 70's and 80's including the 1973 cup win 😉 Played at CLS in his early days.TRT probably has his autograph 🤔

I have indeed. Got it after him and Wasim Raja destroyed Lancs 2nds at Ropery Lane in 1979 against a bowling attack of Allott, Hogg and the Aussie test player Mick Malone and a batting line up including Fowler, Abrahams and Kennedy.

I was at the Gillette Cup game in 1979 v Yorks at Ropery Lane where we ran them pretty close. I didn’t get any autographs though, just drank loads of beer 😁

IIRC there were skips at each corner for the empty cans. Never seen so many. An aluminium recycler’s dream.

Had 'bad Hay Fever' that day so missed school and went to that match instead. 😁 I remember there were hundreds standing in the SW corner of the ground (where the pavilion side meets Ropery Lane) and when Lance Cairns had them 6-2 it was like the Fulwell.
