it was said borthwick was only the 3rd durham born player to reach 1,000 runs after collingwood & pratt, stoneman has since joined him as the 4th but does anyone know if this mean whilst playing for durham county or just durham county born ever??

having said that are either of the above durham county born even? scotty is sunderland [tyne & wear fictional county?] and stoneman was born in newcastle or gateshead [northumberland/tyne & wear?]

I assumed it was home grown Durham players. There must have been Durham born batsmen who scored 1,000 runs for other counties. Milburn, Willey?

Plenty, i took it to mean players reared by the county

Also; if looking at the old co durham borders & dismissing the repugnant "Tyne & Wear" bollox, Onions & Stoneman are both from County Durham although in reality, both probably consider themselves geordies & have a strong affinity with all things Newcastle.

cheers all, had assumed as such just couldn't be arsed to check[DOUBLEPOST=1379319210][/DOUBLEPOST]

not sure onions will ever get to 1k runs in a season :lol:

Cricket fans are of a higher quality than football fans. ;)

I was born a mere petrol bomb throw from the Wongadome, but have never followed Northumberland, Durham for me.

Interesting that. How many signatures are needed for it to seriously be looked into?

10,000 to warrant a response from a minister
100,000 to force a parliamentary debate

Don't think there's much danger of either atm
