Durham 2022 POTY

POTY Potts
One to watch Bushnell
Young POTY Mcintosh but there were a few youngsters given a chance this season so it's a close call.

POTY - Potts of course, only one option really
YPOTY Gibson 8 wickets in 6 matches.
OTW MacAlinden - very young, but looks very good and has a bit of pace.

Hon mentions -
Bushnell as YPOTY and One 2 watch , only 3 matches but certainly didn't let anyone down.
Macintosh good behind the stumps needs a few more run which I'm sure he'll get.

Mackintosh has played very well but will have a real fight on his hands to get in the side next season.

I think despite missing alot of time it has to be Potts for POTY as you saw in his absence how much we missed him.

YPOTY could be one of many, but I'd say macalindon didn't look out of place when he played. Mackintosh also deserves a shout.

One to watch? Really could be one of about 4 or 5. Alot depends who we sign. I'm gonna go, on the back of not mentioning him yet, Jones. Great season for him

POTY - Potts by a country mile
YPOTY - Maybe controversial but I would say Trevaskis as he's is only 23yo. Averaging 39 in the CC with the bat this year, useful contributions with bat and ball in the 50overs and stepped in as captain for the T20
OTW - Bushnell (if he's given a chance)

Honourable mention to Jones who's established himself as a very solid opener in the CC this year

Potts player of the year
Trev young player of year
OTW Gibson, I think he’s slowly outshine a few others and you can see why they picked him early

A mixed season which I think was badly hit by Potts leaving and Dickson and Beds getting injured, I have sympathy

Bushnell should have played more, I’m convinced of that, I still think we are the wrong side of giving youth a chance

However some good young cricketers at the club, they need to find a way to get Tom Mac cricket next year I hope he’s not just 2nd choice all season, maybe pick Robinson as batsman in 50 over stuff and t20 and give him the gloves

I’m still fairly positive about Durham but I think we need a senior bowler and batsman

I’m f***ing gutted it’s over, I’ve been more than any year since I was a teenager as I’ve been back in north east, some of the cricket has been hard ti take but it’s really helped me through a few difficult periods in life, and I’ve also enjoyed watching shouter…from a distance! What a lad.

Potts
McAlindon - Excellent year for him, not even 19 year old and has shown maturity well above his age
OTW - I think with the correct guidance Bushnell will excel next year.

Potts played well, but he missed a large chunk of the season.

My vote went to Michael Jones, with Trevaskis and Raine close behind as those two have scored runs and taken wickets. Raine missed August due to the 100 and we missed him in my opinion.

Yea, good shout on Trev. I really didn't consider him as he seems to have been around for ages.

Robinson had joined because he wants to keep wicket across all formats. Can't see him being happy if that happens. Imo Mackintosh will have to prove good enough to get in as a batsman which I think might be a big ask. But certainly worth working towards

POTY - Pottsy with an honourable mention to Michael Jones.

YPOTY - Trev if he still qualifies in this category and if not Stan MacAlindon who I had watched in the T20 Second XI matches and wasn't that impressed but am pleased to see he has proved me wrong with his step up to the first team.

OTW - Bushnell - and hopefully not just for his waiter skills.

Potts
Mcalindon
Crawshaw

Crawshaw and Bushnell both off to Perth in the winter to play grade cricket and possibly for the same club so it will be intersting to see if either make the first grade and if they do which one they play. only allow one non Aussie.

I heard that both will play at Scarborough - with Bushnell playing 1st grade and Crawshaw 2nd grade. Doesn't seem a very good solution to me, I think both players should be playing in the first grade comp.

That sounds bonkers.

Saying that Bushnell is ahead of Crawshaw in development and age. Perhaps Crawshaw is a bit young and underprepared for grade cricket at this point and having a mate around is deemed a better solution?

I dunno enough about Australian cricket to know, that's pure speculation

There both full time professional cricketers going to play weekend club cricket surely they can't be under prepared. They should have the time of their lives on a off the square. What a great opportunity and life.

As i say, i dunno much about australian cricket, obviously i'd rather as many of our players go play at the highest standard possible over there. sending them to the same club if only one can play seems an odd move, and the only explanation i could think of is if crawshaw isn't ready for grade 1 and/or may get homesick.

technically neither are full time professional cricketers yet right? although both will live that life and i've got high hopes for both, not trying to sound otherwise.

Well technically they are on minimum wage but i think Bushnell has been supplemeting his income with a waiters job around the country
