Durham’s Greatest XI

As part of The Cricketer Magazine’s Centenary Year, they’ve published our team of the century based on the views of supporters - there was a poll put up on the club website a few months ago.

If anyone has it or has read it, get it shared. I don’t subscribe myself but they’ve been on about it on commentary of the Notts v Durham game today.

Keaton jennings?!?!?!
That's an absolute disgrace that like. One good season in his career and he gets picked ahead of benkenstein who did as more than anyone towards our modern success as anyone not named Geoff Cook.

That is shocking, didn't realise the cricketer was read by so many 12 year olds

For what it's worth and from what I've seen since 1992 I went :
Di Venuto, Larkins, Boon, Benkenstein, Collingwood, Stokes, Mustard, Blackwell, Gibson, Onions, Rushworth. (Brown just missing out)

i think i had two goes, one for recency bias and one historical and i think both where similar to yours, stoneman, borthwick, love, hussey i think made appearances, probably brown and possibly harmison.

it's hard to argue with about 8 of theirs but jennings ahead of benkenstein is just unbelievable. a recent player who had one good season before dumping us especially when you compound that by having a player none of us were alive to see.. i thought this was voted for by fans, who in their right mind has picked jennings or cecil someone-or-other (no offense to a past great player who apparently did great for lancashire

They probably only had one person respond.

Mine would have been Benky in for KJ and MDV to open. Then Brown for Cecil.
