Drinking in Sunderland City Centre - restored

Where does good whiskey in town?

Going out Saturday with a mate who’s a whiskey drinker. We looked to book in at the snug over at Sheepfolds but the website doesn’t seem to allow it.

When I’ve been in before like it’s been empty so hopefully can just pop in for one without a reservation.

The place itself is nice but the selection is poor…weirdly one of the better selections ( and speaking relatively) is in Chaplins,

Sunderland just not served very well for whisky drinkers, nor is Newcastle mind

Yes I did think Chaplins, also Dun Cow seem to have some in.

I do like my whiskey but it’s something I very rarely touch when out. More of a house drink for me.

Chaplins did have recently a far better selection than the likes of Isis or Dun Cow

If a big whisky fan there won’t be owt that blows him away but better selection than anywhere else in town I can think of

Not something I ever look at despite quite liking a whiskey sometimes, which of the ones in Chaplin's would you recommend?

To be honest can’t remember exactly what they had but it was something like three shelves and by prices.

Nothing stood out as being unusual to be stocked by a pub, but thought at the time a wider selection than most.

This looks good if out day time

It’s wildly expensive for three average single drams with a bit meat/cheese.

It’s a nice setting but most brand ambassadors, quite rightly want to sell you their whisky. The Spey selection sadly isn’t very good and very limited.

A real shame as hoped it would be better when a whisky lounge first mentioned for the Sheepfolds.
