Drinking in Sunderland City Centre - restored

sat was first time in while ive seen large numbers of away fans in town , not just the odd couple
Got asked for ID in the cooper and they all (15/20) left when they were refused service

I like the vault yard, but the seating set up is weird. Not enough tables as you walk in and at the back. Had to stand for duration that I was in, didn’t really bother me, but imagine it would put some off
£15.50 for a Guinness and a glass of Prosecco in the Dun Cow on Saturday, more expensive than the Botanist
I wouldn’t be going back if they’re charging that

I think some places are becoming indefensible but for the amount I go out and how hard I worked I rarely twist on prices. Clearly paying for the whole gang will hurt . Is a prosecco even a wine measure ?
Just a small whinge really as I thoroughly enjoy the day and it’s nice that they still want to spend time with me. Couldn’t do it more than 5-6 times a season like.

Had a dodge down sunniside way after match saturday. Bridge hotel, sams then diegos. Not many in,but nice atmosphere in all the bars. Canny music in them n'all.
We normally go in Sam's or Diego's, yeah good atmos in both 👍 How's Bridge Hotel for getting a seat? Cracking pub but smaller than it looks!

We were ok. We didnt get in there til about 8:30 9ish though. I have heard its hard to get a seat straight after match. We got some pizza there n'all, lovely.
Yeah we normally just go for a couple afterwards, the pizza place is a good shout though, forgot that was there 👍 It's nice round that part of town these days, hope it keeps on the up.

I really wish the Peacock would consider moving out the seating directly opposite the bar on a match day. It can't be comfortable for those that manage to get one of those tables anyway given the bar is four deep, then you have people having to basically push through the queue to get to the toilets as well. Was especially bad on Saturday, with a band starting mid post-match rush as well. Just make some floor space.

Rarely go in because it's just a massive squash . If bar is manageable we get served and stand outside .agree on tables . I think they all need a rethink but I suppose they want diners other days

Was in Vault Yard before match ,full but easy to get served . Man United fans asked me-what time the 2£ pints went up , couldn’t believe it when told them same price all day every day . According to some posters on here , pubs what sell cheap drinks just get the scum in . Go in quite offen ,clientele always look all right to me
,
I have always been impressed by the bar staff in the vault yard like. I'll go to the far left and the same lass is there just absolutely hammering the pints out.

Helps the Vault Yard is legitimately a really decent place as well.

yeah, when the weathers OK you can battle the scrum and accept it as you can move outside, thats fine as its a great little spot in the sun for everyone passing by.

Bit of a ball ache for the staff, but they could shift the tables/chairs upstairs on a matchday? Get what you're saying, its a bit of a dilemma for them when it comes to seats for people after food, but when you've got the sheer number of people battling to get to the bar, that should be enough reasoning to make enough room.

Ok pub but a nightmare getting served on matchdays like.
