Drinking in Sunderland City Centre - restored

Aye mind think it would be Land Securities who own the Bridges anyway so it would be them dealing with it.

Honestly same in a way but people like it so it'll bring people in, the Newcastle one is heaving all year around. Suppose if your a smoker then it's ideal like which there's quite often one in your group.

Mind I'd rather be there than a German bar, sports bar or cocktail bar where it's prentous with Geordie Shore types.

Glad to see them seeing sense and not pushing retail anymore as it's dead really and wouldn't get anywhere. The independent traders is interesting like rather than going for the usual chains that Eldon Square went for and it's failing pretty miserably aswell. Half of them are shut now and it's pretty dead down there.
The Eldon square food court thing was a disaster as soon as it opened I’m sure two places shut in the first month!!

What's the solution to get the City centre having actually people out on a Friday then. Because right now the Empire is single handedly carrying the trade, and that's only 1 part of Town.

Last week, I was working on Vine Street and it took until about 1am to see more than 10 people at once.. Looking outside was like 1 of those Wild West films where you just see tumbleweed floating about, and we're heading into the quietest period of the year now.

Is it because City centre is too expensive? Is it because there's too many alternatives outside of Town - Stack, Steels, Palm etc, is it because there's not enough diverse scenery? All of the above?

Saturdays are fine. But it's just nuts how completely opposite the 2 days are, and places won't want to invest for 1 day a week.
Friday nights are generally a lot quieter across the country unfortunately, these things tend to be cyclical tho so hopefully it’ll pick back up.

Too many people work late shifts to make Friday nights any good in Sunderland again.

Demographically I’d say a good 90% of people who are out on a Saturday are students so it’s an irrelevant point.

They were out and about for Freshers, places like Gatsbys would get rammed.

Coincidentally its the only bar which keep their prices the same as during the week, can get a Treble Vod in there for 3.50 so I’m still convinced it’s an expense thing.

Fuck off statto.

Nonsense that like. No chance.

Not even a exaggeration, have ya seen the amount of potential jailbait you see between Gatsbys, Trilogy and Ttonic  I feel like the nonce police might be at me door next day if I spoke to em as some of them are barely 18!

Anyone doubting clearly hasn't seen the Town on a night in a while, a bit like they're oblivious to how dead it is on a Friday currently!

I'm out in town tonorrow. I won't be looking out for potential jailbait though because I'm 37 and not a nonce.

Intrigued how you're distinguishing between student jailbait and local jailbait though.

Fridays have been dead in town for atleast 15 years.

sounds like you're probably a bit too old for those places

Young 'uns like to go out & frequent certain bars shocker Doesn't mean they're students or that other places don't exist.

Winter Funderland opens tonight on the grass area where Crowtree Leisure centre was there’s a tipi bar, funfair and market.
I wonder how it does?
Aye. Walked past this earlier.
is it the Hadrian’s tipi thing that was there a few year back ? If it is they’ve let them selves down a bit. Looked awful.
