Drawn at home to Mags in FA Cup

If we win will it be a giant killing ?
It’ll be a victory for football.

Said it yesterday but everyone bar them (obviously), the media and the weird grade A helmets from the south who have them as their 2nd team* will be rooting for an unlikely underdog victory.

*Ive came across a few of these in recent years, an absolute bunch of oddball creatures.

That's better an underdog victory.

That’s something we do very well tbf.
Trippier / Almiron and Tino / Gordon attack and defend their flanks together.
Agreed. Lots of hardworking players. Then you have the ability to switch to exploit space. I noticed Livramento get a lot of space v Man Utd after some clever switches by Isak

He did, but that was down a lot to the disgraceful work ethic of Rashford and Garnachio. Not a chance you’ll show that level of complacency

People still calling this the Tyne Wear derby. Newcastle United died 2 years ago. This is Sunderland v The Saudi State.
The title of this thread is incorrect. We aren't playing the mags, we are playing Saudi Arabia

Exactly this.

Newcastle United: 1892-2021

Saudi FC: 2021 -

Let me tell you what’s going to happen in the next five years: bookmark this if you want.

They’ll expand the stadium, but to “pay for it” it’ll be renamed something Saudi related. They’ll play regular games in Saudi as part of a “friendly” tournament throughout the actual PL season.
The FA prevent them changing their colours, but they’ll wear the Saudi “away” shirt as often as they wear B&W, even at home.
More and more seats to Saudi corporates, ST prices rocket upward to squeeze out the riff raff.
Adverts and signs in Arabic all over the stadium.

A good few thousand of the actual supporters will switch to Blue Star, Gateshead, N. Shields etc, their seats taken by tourists and Saudi day trippers. Atmosphere will plummet, Sky will pretend it’s exactly the same.

Bookmark it. Guaranteed.

Rashford didn't track back all game when Livramento bombed forward but I get your point.

Both fair points but I was trying to say you had the ability to find the space (which was given by Man Utd). I suspect you’d have found it elsewhere had Rashford tracked.

We struggle imo when Clarke is doubled up, to either utilise the overlap or switch the ball swiftly to where there is space

Agree with the doubling up point….only bit I would counter on that is that the doubling up has tended to come from teams set up to nullify us from the outset

Southampton didn’t double him up, neither did Leicester (appreciate our finishing was shite v Leicester) but I don’t think the mags will set up as defensively as some teams we have played which could create some space for him to utilize….same with Roberts.

It’s the physicality I’m more bothered about as I don’t think we have much of that throughout the team.

Anyway I’m sure we will give it a good go, nowt to lose

If we can get Allesse (or Cirkin) fit we can play one of them, Ekwah, Jobe, Ballard and Mayenda. That's 5 outfielders who are 6 foot plus.

Since Ekwah came into the side (even though he isn't the most physical) bar Luton away (when we were missing Alesse, Cirkin, Ballard and Batth) we haven't really been bullied like we used to.

I hope so - I only wish this game was the one before Christmas again in the hope we ruin it for them
That was tremendous that.

They've all come crawling out of the festering rotted woodwork since the takeover.

I'm really not expecting to win this one, probably be tight first half but we will run out of steam in the 2nd half and lose 0-2 or 0-3 .........BUT I hope we snap and injure a good few of their players in the process.
Same, to the extent an already injury hit squad is further injured and another year can be added to their honours drought.

All of the above I can see happening aye, but I can very much see them building and moving to a soulless new stadium somewhere like Longbenton.

On par with Arsenal for the price of a season ticket, tourists and day trippers galore roll in.

Your average working class mag punter who has had a season ticket on the Gallowgate/Leazes for 40 odd years will be priced out. A good few already have been.

Most of them are too (literally) sportswashed already to comprehend the above will even happen and some will be frothing at the gums once it does but by then it won't matter about pleasing fans of a football team as the aim of the PIF ownership ultimately isn't about footballing success at the end of the day.

They're being used to gain influence in the UK and the west over the next decade or two and they're too thick right now to even realise.

Be careful what you wish for, albeit that phrase is over 2 years too late.
