Yep. When they win this they’ll be zero mention of them being a CL club with £350m worth of players and Sunderland being a mid table championship team after 4 years in league one. They’ll go on worse than they did after beating PSG 4-1, as if Sunderland are some massive titan they’ve trained relentlessly for years to beat.

A lot of them were going into it saying it was a free hit for them. They were absolutely right. Big gulf between wages and experience of the 2 teams that night.

Same in January.

It's a one off game that's going to dominant some people's lives for the next month. The reality is both clubs have far bigger goals for the season. Would we swap defeat for promotion, yes. Would they swap defeat for another top 4 finish, I suspect they would.
