West Rainton Dementia Friends run a monthly lunch time activity session for older people in the area.

It is held on the last Friday of the month from 1.30 until 3.00 in Jubilee Hall which is just across from the Italian Farmhouse restaurant.

Although it is run by Dementia Friends, it is a social event open to all elderly people no matter where they live. In the past we have had bingo, cake decorating, a singer doing war time songs, gentle exercise and there’s always plenty of tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits.

Because it is totally funded by donations and grants and run by volunteers there is no cost at all.

If you know anyone who would like to socialise and have a reason to go out and have some fun, please bring them or ask them just to turn up for a warm welcome.

This Friday we are doing Easter Crafts and Cake Decorating.

Thanks for the positive comments. The oldies love it.

And we always lock up and have one of those smart kettles that turns off when it boils so we should be fine.

I had a family member who suffered from this horrible disease so you have my utmost admiration.

So glad that you're helping.
