There's already been a few people here who have said that they voted Donald Out, but don't necessarily support the statement. As I said in my initial post though, the poll probably wouldn't change much if it was solely on the statement given the mood on here.

That said, I do think there's a good amount of people who are unhappy with Donald, but don't agree with that statement. I've picked that up from speaking to people at the match, along with a vocal minority on here.

Even I thought it was a little heavy handed initially, but I can't say I had too many qualms about it either.

I'm not involved in any of the groups but I'd have backed it. I still do.

The more I look at it the better I think it was in both tone and timing.


The one lingering doubt, in the eventuality that somebody actually wants us, is that the grass is not always greene - but at the same time, the lawn already looks pretty f***ing barren to me.

What I should have said is I think he is capable of getting us out of this league. But I will caveat that by saying under him the best we could do is lower half of the Championship. Use him to get promoted then let him sell at a profit in the Championship to someone who can get us into the Premier league

I said it wasn't as one sided as people think. There were loads of people saying "every fan" and 99% etc. Its actually still 33% who want him to stay, every after he said he's going. There are multiple replies on this thread saying if it was before the statement they would have voted for him to stay, now after the statement the position is untenable. So that % would have been higher, how much higher is anyone's guess.

Season ticket holder. I voted out, however I do think this 'statement'was poorly timed, even though I agree with it. I'd much rather we waited until after the window as it would confirm whether he is this lying chancer with no money, relying on bottom of the barrel loans and frees or if the club actually has transfer funds and a proper plan for recruitment and signings as he claims.

Unfortunately now I think he will use this as an excuse to only sign cheaps and frees claiming that ,us as fans, have made the club unattractive to players and that's all we can get. While saving himself the money and effort and selling us on to whoever comes along. I do hope I'm wrong.

The more I think about it the more ridiculous the initial fanzine statement was. Seems odd that it was so coordinated when they themselves already knew the club was available for purchase anyway. Literally nothing to be benefitted from it other than venting their own frustrations at our current predicament.

We're the biggest club in League 1. The only person making Sunderland unattractive is the owner. Just ask Lyle Taylor or Josh Maja.

I personally don't think these groups will get the opportunity to have such a close relationship with the club post-takeover. If they did though, I'd hope that they would build something that's a bit more balanced, and doesn't turn from arse-kissing to campaigning to remove the owner immediately in a matter of weeks.

He reckons he's been turning down offers all the time though - some probably better than others. I'm sure every club in the land is available to purchase all the time and we're certainly no exception. How willing you are to listen to certain offers is a different matter.

I've said all along I'll give Donald the benefit of the doubt when he says he's not here to make a quick buck - I don't believe he is. I think he wanted to play chairman, but as far I'm concerned, play time is up and it's time to listen to some of those offers.

Dont get me wrong I agree 100%, but he has seemed so childish in making excuses for his failures, it sounds exactly like the sort of shit he will use to defend another dreadful window. The statement has given him more fuel for excuses to not spend.

Not necessarily. Many 'older' fans do not engage on social media. I'm the only one of my crowd who read this board, and the older fans tend to be a bit more measured and less reactive.

The club meet with RAWA as part of an EFL regulation. How touchy-feely they are doesn't come into it.

Will it matter? If someone new takes over it won't be long before fans are against them. Cowie, Murray, Quinn, Short, Donald. That's 40 years of different owners. What makes anyone think another owner will do things better?

I can't remember anyone turning against Quinn? I can remember the SSAFC campaign against Murray and Bob having the balls to stand his ground. It wasn't until we got relegated from the PL that the fans turned on Short.

The first sign of trouble and Donald is jumping ship. The man has wanted to sell the club and make a profit for himself since day 1.

Let's see if Stewart Donald will do the same as Murray and Short have done.

Fair enough. I can only go off what I know. My mates don't get hysterical enough to 'hate'. None of them 'love' him either but some of us bought into his vision, rightly or wrongly. My view has always been we had enough to get out this league, and we were under performing. It seemed he had investment lined up for if we ever got promoted but that is now unlikely.
