Donald on our January budget

Puts todays results in perspective. We're making do. Its possible we may have to have a consolidation season or two before we start thinking of promotion, but our league position at the moment is still encouraging enough to at least give us some hope.

I’ll pass on what I heard and be shot for it but so be it.

From someone I trust within the club the impression of the new owners is that there changers with no real money.

They got the club for a song and hope to get out if league 1 before selling for a tidy sum whilst investing as little as possible.

People are right to point out the parachute payments and Donald is wrong to keep ignoring them as if they don’t exist when talking about our budget.

Personally I do feel they have brought in positivity to the club with the best move being jack Ross who has massively impressed me.

I said it at the time and I still feel we will come to regret not bringing in more loan signings to supplement squad but so be it, we have what we have and let’s see where we can get to.

Worst case scenario this is all just about getting into the championship to triple there money then so beit, there worse things could happen.
I wondered how long the chancers term would emerge, just surprised it took until now.
I think there is no doubt they plan to pass on to Juan. I don’t think they’d deny it.

Thats where we disagree, it won’t be a disaster imo. If it takes another season to get up so be it

It’s an absolute disaster

There’s no excuse not to go up

Nonsense

We should not be consolidating in league one for 2 seasons man

Wage bill imo, costs too high until some of the high earners are shifted. Sure we’ll find out more tomorrow on podcast
Hats the whole point of getting the parachute payments. If our wage bill is down to around £15m I can’t see how we aren’t making a decent profit this year.

so where is all the money going to suddenly come from if we do get promoted and we still have the high earners hanging on? Current squad would need another overhaul, higher wages??

Why you asking me?

Ask the owners who got one of the biggest clubs in the country for fuck all

Hasn’t he already said they want to run it financially without the parachute payments so it is self sustainable should the worst happen and we don’t get back up?

@Grumpy Old Man might comment, sure he was posting about it

Of course they want to, but they can’t expect to do that in a couple of months. The parachute payments are supposed to allow a transition to that.
The problem is while I agree it’s a great aim there are virtually no examples of teams being successful in the championship while being self sufficient, at least in recent years.

Maybe the new director comes into play if we go up. Or the parachute money is there to use if we go up

If we get it right in league 1 though financially, it’ll give us a much better chance if / when we go up

You mean the self sustainable model goes out the window on promotion? Seems utterly pointless to try to implement it now then.

I agree with the last paragraph, that was always the aim I thought. However this latest article seems to have a very different tone, maybe I’m reading it wrong.

Ain’t happening while Ndong, Djilobodji, cattermole, mcgeady and Oviedo are all on PL money averaging around 1.5m a year wages each I would assume.

We are not by and means guaranteed promotion and wont get it the way we are playing at home. It will be pretty much a disaster if we dont go up this season and thats why things have to change now. We do not want to end up in the play offs. It has to be top 2 or knowing us we will bladder it in the final against Fleetwood Town or similar.

We clearly have no money and thats why Donald and Methven/Sartori have to keep on hunting for more directors and investors.

This side will need to be strengthened considerably for future years; that much is obvious already.

Hopefully find out a little more tomorrow, they said he’d discussed parachute payments

Satori will take a bigger percentage, or even buy the club outright I reckon.
