We need to get promoted

Some of the posts here are staggering

In every business you need to put a bit of investment to get things going[/

we have the highest wage bill in the division..so we have the largest resource of any team in the division towards getting promoted...there are rules opreventing us pushing the wage bill higher...we definitely have the resource to get prmoted and no team has beaten us yet..

they have done the bidgets on the basis we dont get promoted..thats prudent and means the clkubs future is secure..

Did you listen to the podcast?
Did you hear him talk about the cheques he’s writing for players still with us but not playing and the cheques he’s still writing for players who aren’t with us anymore.
Did you hear him talk about the money they’ve paid out for players on top of that.
Did you hear him talk about our wage bill, millions higher than any other team in the league, who is paying that.
Who do you think is paying for the running of the club if they aren’t

they paid £48m to ellis...and are budgeting to lose £5m this year which they will have to find..and to lose money next year..which they will have to find..

the wages to turnover ratio is surely way to high for a business to be sustainable?

A lot of that overspend is tied up in the overhang from the previous regime - the two stayaways plus Cattermole and Oviedo probably come to around 15% of turnover. Despite the FFP rules, a lot of clubs in this league operate withwage levels look above the limits. That's because you can exclude a lot of payments to younger players, and you can count transfer income as part of revenue. Many clubs, basically, ensure they meet FFP by selling their better players every year. Sure, it's not sustainable long term, but it can be manages in this period of adjustment,

thanks-risky though as there has to be a player worth selling....! I think one thing these guys will be good at is growing the turnover line,,,and thats where the wiggle room will be..though thats the item that takes time to come through..

if they did mange to get promoted while spenidng at these levels,..and then did grow turnover..the club would be one of the most attractive in the league bnexty year by every measure..

January is a long way off in seasonal terms, we may get to January and realise we don't need any new incomings.

If we're doing well then focus on shifting Djili, Ndong and potentially McGeady and tie the young lads down.

With the emergence of Hume then we may even be able to sell Oviedo without requiring a replacement too.

And improving is the absolute significant point, some seem to expect perfection already
Patience seems to be an unfashionable word these days J. Those that seem to have forgotten the meaning of the word would be well served to remember it’s taken 10 years of mismanagement to get us to where we were at the end of last season. These lads have come in and made huge inroads to turning that around in such a short space of time it’s staggering. Not good enough for some it would seem.

It’s crackers, and actually when you put it as starkly as that, I’m surprised they’ve managed to achieve what they have achieved in such a short space of time.
Most are just happy with that and with having some hope and a feeling of positivity back. Others ...

Are in the minority thankfully, but it’s still irksome.

Add Oviedo and Cattermole to that list and concentrate on Hume and
Mumba taking their places for probably a 10th of the cost

They have to deal with it but they seem unwilling to do so with any of their own money

Remember this is why Short wiped the debt

They’ve got one of the best deals ever

Why do we need to get promoted, why is it such a disaster if we don’t go up this year?

It's very much the "I want it now" culture.

The new owners have done a cracking job, so far.

4 or 5 players will be taking 80% of the wages, pareto principle, them being here hasn't made us unassailable world beaters so they need to gan, but shifting the Fookas is the issue.......Pub League players on Premier league wages, nee one will touch 'em

No issues with that from me. Throwing money at it with the risk of not going up would just be repeating the same mistakes that landed us here. We need to be self sufficient and have proper plans in place to get us out of here while being sustainable and well run, this is where you hope the manager and coaches will earn their coin.

......40 million needed to buy club from Short.....money needed to cover loss we will make this season....money to pay transfer fee balances still owed....

I think u are taking the piss ?

Safc's financial situation is still dire and 30000 gates ? 22000 st holders paying average of 15 per game.
Therefore 8000 paying average of 20 per game. Not vast amounts - maximum 500k per game. Ndong and Papy taking 60k of that with Catts and Oviedo taking near 90k.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Our financial situation is more desperate which way too many on here don't seem to understand.
Donald and Methven aren't minted so money is not going to be thrown at it.

There are currently discussions going on with the Council to get the business rates bill down from 2 million to 500k.
Savings like this are obviously very important judging by the way CM spoke on Friday, and not shifting the 2 aresholes was obviously a blow.

It shoudn't be....

We can't afford to spend more than one season in this league if our income is poor....We are missing out on extra tv money etc, so we are desperate for a center half to get us out of this league.
