It is worse over the festive period. Combination of excess alcohol and everyone being at home I think. Plus you're usually wearing long sleeves and trousers so it's harder for other people to see the bruises and offer help.

Some blokes are just horrible nasty bastards in drink.

It scars the bairns for life aswell.


I personally have no happy memories as a kid at Xmas through absolute hell on every year.
