Does anyone think we stay up?

Leeds had a better team last year and have improved it. I think they’re the best placed of the 3 to stay up
Only thing I d say about Leeds is they will need to change their style of play. Spent a lot of last season pressing teams and being on the front foot. I don’t think they will struggle for goals but they will be wide open and will concede a lot.

They're probably well placed to be this year's banter team. Loads of goals & exciting games

Betting stats are normally based off bets placed, it’s no surprise after so many promoted teams are relegated that people bet the tend continues, especially us as the outside view is we scrapped through the playoffs.

Most people don’t follow what every club are doing and probably expect us to be a similar side to what we were last season, which we know won’t be the case.

I do think there wasn’t much between the promoted teams last season and our recruitment so far has been the best of the 3, I also wouldn’t swap RLB for the other 2 managers. The big decider will be if one or more of the 17 have an off season that pulls them into contention

Burnley have no chance at all. Lost their keeper, centre back gone for free, Brownhills gone from midfield for free, never had goals in the championship, never mind the PL. They won't be able to keep loads of clean sheets in the PL.

Well you don’t know that like, theyve spent some cash too

The excellent transfer dealings we have done will make us competitive with the bottom 7 - hopefully - and that, this season, is the extent of my ambition for the club. We have our own mini league to play in and whilst days out at Liverpool will be looked forward to, it is just that - a day out. We wont get anything there a la Man City, Arsenal and co.

the skunks games are different as the derby is a great leveller.

Can we compete with the bottom 7 and end up say 5th bottom.....we are about to find out. the first few fixtures may well be a barometer of how we will do.

I dont see the point in giving up before the season starts.
Sounds like your half way there already TBF !

A lot of Burnley's spend has been on loan to buy obligations. They may not all constitute an upgrade. Our only similar is Enzo, who arguably was never fully fit last season, but still massively improved us. Now it's looking like he's not a guaranteed starter. Possibly red and white eyeballs, but I think our recruitment has been better targeted than either Leeds or Burnley.

yes 100% Ive watched Man Utd game recently, they still struggling. The look vunerable at the back, we can beat them, counter attack, wingers going at them.

I think Leeds look decent, we would do well to finish above them

We just don’t know like, playing catch up

Just feel some, not you, been fairly arrogant in predictions regarding us and them
About £50m of their spend has been on loan obligations for players they had last season.

Bookmark this if you want. Burnley finish rock bottom by a mile.

I’ve no interest using my bookmark on this like I don’t really care

Xhaka aside, I hadn't heard of a single player we've signed this summer.

I have absolutely no idea if we are set to be the next Brighton, or the second De Fanti Sunderland.

Great way to approach it.

Im an optimist regarding Sunderland but no idea

I think people are massively underestimating Leeds n Burnley mind and not sure why people think we will be ahead of them yet. Like we might, but they have both spent pretty well too I think.

It’s more long term for me, even if we go down we are stronger for it, just gonna try and enjoy it
That pod with the Leeds and z Burnley fans was interesting. Also listened to various west ham fans on pods ruffling our hair. I still think we need more up front but so much depends on how the team gels: there’s a lot of pace and power and now some top level experience. We won’t be push overs- most of our signings come from established sides in good leagues. I’m optimistic ( nothing new there!)

Yes of course we can stay up...despite history/odds are against us.

To stay up, I guess our football will not be pretty.

I can see 3 CBs and 2 WBs, Xhata as DM. We have to make it hard to score against us. 1 up front and 2 hard tackling CMs. Real rope-a-dope stuff.

I presume with all the new players plus Hume and Cirkin we have WBs.
Also we have added some height to the team so corners and free kicks will be important to us for scoring.

Not pretty, but could be effective in garnering points to stay up.

This is also true but equally I hadn’t heard of them because I only really follow Sunderland and am not a keen student of serie A , ligue 1, German Spanish or Belgian leagues. The signings have pedigree.

No interest yet you were right in there telling people why we could be behind Burnley.

I simply offered an alternative view

Trust me, I'd bite your hand off for 17th right now

Yep true. All good a fair few games in them which is what we needed.

I didn’t say that at all I said people are being slightly arrogant assuming we’d go ahead of them, theyve both invested themselves, nobody has a clue
